With all the talk about the situation down in Florida, I started thinking about what lengths I would want my family to go to extend my body’s existence. You notice I didn’t say life, and for a reason, life is much more than an artificially functioning body.
The answer to the question led me to consider the bankruptcy bill that was just passed by this “life society” congress. Should, god pray it does not, befall me to succumb to some illness or accident that would leave me in a state of total dependence upon some medical device to exist….then I would have placed my remaining family in jeopardy of being liable for medical bills far surpassing anyone, but the super wealth’s capacity to pay. Without the ability to lift the burden of that debt or to seek relief from that debt, my family would be faced with economic slavery.
Bottom line is the bottom line….as things are today, I choose not to enrich the medical community by selling my survivors into slavery.
