So why is it "All Religion, All The Time" on the MSM?
Is it because it's a distraction from the real solutions that the government is able to implement for real problems?

Why have good public universities training hard working students to be good doctors and why have a health care system that is about treating and curing people (and not about shifting a lot of money to Wall St corporations) if it's the power of prayer that cures people?

Why have sane foreign policy if we're just fulfilling prophecy?

It's all in god's hands. Why do anything?

Is that what this is all about?

1. Pandering.
Take a look at what their ratings mean, in real numbers of warm bodies. Especially cable news.

They are significant far beyond their demographic reach.

5. I admit ignorance
as to what MSM is, but not to what "religion" is. I still like a definition given in college, "Religion is an attempt to answer unanswerable questions." Or as a neighbor says, it's what we do even if we don't believe half of it. And no, it isn't all in God's hands (whoever or whatever you think He, She, or It is) remember Free will? I think that's how we got into this mess, or rather a very wilful pissident got us into it.Not everyone who prays is healed; not everyone believes in The Rapture. I surely don't. But hey. its a handy excuse for not doing anything, right?

6. Because it's Easter Week
They do this every year the week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.

It will go away next week.

14. It has been like this since last November.
The New York Times has been especially persistent in interjecting religion into as many stories as possible since last November.

12. Demographics. 60% of you 'Mercans are religious. Is it always
Christian? Don't they try to at least be vague sometimes and make it about souls.. golden rules... empathy in general?

13. Did you know that a majority of people describing themselves as christian
consider their politics liberal?

Lakoff writes about this. He says the failure of the Dems to get their attention and organize them is one of the Dems' biggest failures.

15. Sounds like there is some work to do. We have empathy in common with
true Christians. I say that is how we connect with all people who belong under our big tent. I am sick of some liberals saying ignorant things about Christians or devout. (You can say what you want about the hateful radical right or freepers). I just want to see the religious accepted as humans with that extra ability to have faith. Call it a gene or a meme or environment... call it the desire to have a protective mother & father your whole life... whatever. Just don't demean anybody under my big tent because they are being who they were born to be. They are being real (and by real I mean living their lives with empathy). If they do not live their lives with empathy and call themselves religious while they spew hate..they are not Christian.

The religiously devout do just as much incredible stuff in the world than academics do or other 'experts'. We need everyone who has true empathy under our tent. The hatefull/envious and selfish belong with the repukes.

16. A good place to start:
God's Politics : Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It
by Jim Wallis

"MANY OF US FEEL that our faith has been stolen, and it's time to take it back..." (more)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0060558288/ref=wl_it_dp/102-1693845-7701715?%5Fencoding=UTF8&coliid=I35A7GFWS2ZXGC&v=glance&colid=2YRWDUP4MTFCM

Did you know that up until the 1920s, there was a debate among christians about whether god was angry (activating conservative frames) or if he offered grace (activating liberal frames).

The vengeful god of the fundamentalists won out and has been the dominant metaphor for many christians -- and it has been so dominant that liberal christians, according to Lakoff's research -- can barely articulate their philosophy in his field studies. They consider themselves politically liberal, but can't clearly link up their liberal politics to their theology.

The Democratic Party needs to help people make the connections more effectively.

I suspect it was the disruption of women's rights that helped the angry christians overpower the liberal christians, by the way.

18. Because the mainstream media is all out to persecute Christians.
Its a battle between God and Satan don't you know? The media always ignores Christians or bashes them or pushes immoral programming down our throats. That's what Dr. Dobson says.
