Rep. Jim McDermott is telling it like it is. He is telling how they are
making it all so political in hopes of hurting the Dems and diverting the public's attention away from something. Maybe we will figure it out, maybe not. However, they are using this poor woman's condition as well as the family's heartache for political gain and I hope it slaps them back in the face. Also, some Republicans are against this bill.

Personally, what the Republicans are doing is wrong. However, her husband has moved on with his life (as he should have. It has been 15 years after all). He can divorce Terri, give guardianship to her parents, and let them figure out who is to take care of Terri once they are gone. Is his love for Terri so deep that he has fought her parents over 15 years to take her off of this feeding tube because she TOLD him she would never want to live like this?

Or, is it due to money as her family claim? So is Michael Schiavo fighting this out of his own conscience because of what he claims Terri told him, or is this because of a cash settlement? Which is it?

Didn't someone offer Mr. Schiavo over a million dollars to let her live on and her parents become her guardians in this way. I do not think he accepted any money to do that.

Could you imagine your body is like Terri's, you cannot control body functions, movements, speech, you are trapped in this body. Your mind may still function enough to have thoughts; however, where is the joy of life? Does she have any? Is she in a lot of pain? Does anyone know?

Her Parents are being selfish and in my opinion are continuing to torture their daughter for their own selfish needs of her being in their lives. Isn't that why we all mourn our loved ones once they are dead and buried? It's because of our own selfishness that we want them alive. Even if they had been sick, we still want them back, because we love them and do not want to lose them.

1. I don't think it serves anyone to judge her parents motivation.....
...I'm sure they still cling to hope (however unrealistic) and that hope is being fed by people with an agenda. I heard a Republican from Florida being interviewed on tv and he said their goal was to protect life from CONCEPTION to natural death. That is the agenda and this family is being used. When the right to life crowd brings in a doctor to tell this family what they so desperately want to hear --- who can fault them for clinging to that. The Right to Life Crowd are the selfish ones in this equation.
