Okay Terri's bill passed now what happens?
does it go to the President? So will it be camera or actual video he has documenting his signing? Will he actually drag on or more of her family members to the WH to get more photo ops.

I am so sick I don't know what to do.

15. Don't assume that
I'd be really surprised if that happened.

What this bill does is try to ask a Federal Court to take jurisdiction of the case. So, right now, it's simply a procedural issue. And that has to be resolved before the substantive issues - the feeding tube - can be dealt with.

The latter isn't going to happen in Federal court. I just can't see it. I can't see a Federal judge doing anything but tossing this out really fast.

19. I only hope not
Is this bill directed just for her? Does anybody know? If so isn't this unconstiutional?

6. If there is any justice...
this will be declared unconstitutional as soon as a judge reviews it.

As to the likelihood of that, I can't say I'm particularly optimistic.

26. Federal Judge sure to be a Republican
I doubt he/she will go against the party's wishes, and this is definitely a Republican party gig.

Or is it? Seems enough Dems voted for this...

29. Well, the judge who ordered the tube out on Friday
Edited on Mon Mar-21-05 01:28 AM by deadparrot
was a registered Republican, so being a Republican isn't necessarily a foregone conclusion on how they would rule.

Our hope can be that if he's a Republican, he's a true conservative, and one that isn't too happy about having his rights a as a memeber of the judicial brance trampled on.

7. Is this really a big deal in the big picture though?
I know it's fascinating watching these idiots overturn our rule of law and thusly the Constitution, but tomorrow we can talk about something else. There rule becomes even less importatnt to us because we live by the Constitution and they ignore it - so we ignore them!

9. After Bush has his photo op, the Schwindlers go judge shopping
This is an historic day. Now any time any American does not get the results they want from a lower court, petition your Congresscritter for a special law that applies only to you and your case!

Congress has set itself up as the final arbiter in all civil cases nationwide! Step right up and get your Congressional adjudication! They'll even word their special law for you in such a way that the federal courts cannot take anything into consideration from the lower court!

on 9/11/01. Maybe he could have gotten a hold of NORAD. This he cuts his vacation short for? But when he gets a memo saying that the whole country was in danger, hey, he had better things to do. Sorry, I am just disgusted by this. Now total strangers get to involve themselves in family and health conflicts?

22. But no, he had to finish reading some stupid story to the 1st graders
while our own New Yorkers were jumping to their deaths or burning alive.

But when there's one brain-dead woman in a vegetative state for 15 years and counting - you said it all, Kool Kitty. ** rushed home from VACATION for this !!!

Meanwhile we need more cannon-fodder for the Iraq war, so all you patriotic, troop-supporting, flag-waving, magnetic yellow ribbon sporting Americans who voted for ** can just drive your Hummers down to your local Army recruiter and sign up for an indefinate tour of duty, RIGHT???

Funny how the *ahem* "culture of life" crowd doesn't seem to worry about the lives of our soldiers and the Iraqi people. Or the hungry or poor here stateside. Jeez, this is one sad and upsetting night.

27. Chimp couldn't be bothered to leave
the classroom on 9/11. The goat story and photo op afterward were much more pressing than the carnage taking place at the WTC. Then he spent the remainder of the day flying around the country waiting for his pants to dry.

But a Florida woman who's been in a "persistent vegetative state" for 15 years and whose case the courts have repeatedly addressed and gave the final word on...well this absolutely demands his immediate attention lest some fundie wingnut (who'd be all for nuking the entire Middle East tomorrow) thinks for a second he's unGodly because he didn't do everything in his power to save the "life" of a woman who basically died years ago.

Who the hell put these lunatics in charge?

12. Now what happens? Here is what I will do.....
I have decided that since even one Democrat voted for this immoral and illegal bill, I am changing my voter's registration tomorrow here in Oregon to Independent. I have been a Democrat since Pres. Kennedy was president.

I am really shocked that any Democrats voted for this travesty and I am giving up on the Democratic party, which I worked for and supported through the 2004 election (I saw both Kerry and Edwards) and long before as a volunteer for Robert Kennedy's campaign.

I am ashamed to be a Democrat.

Not one of the grandstanding morally-deprived sob's we just witnessed pushing this travesty will even remember Terry Schiavo's name come Monday morning. They've wrung all they can out of this.
