The rule of law is dead. 3/21/05 The Constitution is dead.
States rights are kaput.

The Constitution just gave one last dying gasp tonight.

Who witnessed its death?

Any TRUE conservative should be shitting bricks right now over this.

Any person who values the United States Constitution should be clawing their face off over this.

Anyone who truly admires the principles this country was founded on should be in mourning. They are gone.

I fall into those last two categories. I think the Constitution kicks major ass. Or it used to.

So much for that. I just never thought I'd see this in my lifetime. It was a good experiment while it lasted.

2. Bouncy..I love you, but I have a slight pet peeve:
The people who cheer this latest fiasco aren't conservatives, they're neo-cons.
True conservatives (yes they exist) ARE going apeshite.
Neo-cons don't give a flying FUCK about the constitution.

I was saying TRUE conservatives should be shitting bricks over this (UPSET, in other words).

Sorry if that wasn't clearer.

conservatives are really ALARMED by this.

That's when the worm turns, when you start getting repukes going "Hey, wait a second, hold on there......this is going too far...."

13. neither do I, however
Old skool conservatives actually will side with liberals and Democrats on several key issues- federal bans on abortion, for instance- but neo-cons won't.
Neo-cons = traitors
Conservatives will generally repect the constitution and not shit on it.

11. Don't like the outcome of your civil case at the state level?
Step right up and get your case adjudicated by Congressional law. If you're a big enough contributor or your case represents some juicy red meat for the religiously insane, the Congressional Adjudication Committee will even word your specialized law to not allow federal judges to take anything from the original court documents into account!

I'm spinning, just reeling -- Obama??? Durbin?? Well, if there is no difference between them and us, where do I go? The US Supreme Court TURNED DOWN an emergency appeal on this case. The US district court ruled against a habeas action -- the appellate hasn't ruled yet, but must look to the state record. IT WENT TO THE FEDERAL COURT ALREADY!!!!! WTF??? Forgive the yelling, but I'm blowing a cork, here.

They are having a fit over this. They actually called me to see if I knew what was going on. They want DeLay's head on a platter. I'm trying not to be smug but it's killing me. I've not spoken to this person since before the elections when we had a huge disagreement over Tom DeLay.

This is one brainwashed faux news watching person who I'd already primed. I do know they are very upset with DeLay and the rest of the Repugs who voted for this. They were not shy about pointing out how some Dem's voted for it also. Their main beef was that they think I may be on to something with Delay (duh!).

23. Your right...11/2/04 I witnessed our Democracy die, 3/21/05 I saw our
state rights disappear and basically our Constitution which has been hanging on by a thread, be in worse shape than Terri Schiavo....

I am clawing my face over this....I think the Constitution is the greatest document on this earth and its being destroyed by right wing nuts who call themselves "Republicans" (they aren't - my father and grandparents who are life long Republicans always talked about fiscal conservatism, keeping gov't small, keeping gov't out of our private lives and letting the states make decisions).

No, these people think the Bible, their version, should replace the Constitution....

So much for "Democracy"...it was a good experiment while it lasted...our founding fathers couldn't have imagined this, or atleast they did and thought they had put all the protections in place....they couldn't imagine corporate power getting so strong and the use of media propaganda and Television and its power.

33. Bouncy Ball...you articulated yourself so well...
...and you pointedly spelled out why the Schiavo case is so important.

You are right...it feels like the Constitution is dead.

Truly, the neocons could care less about it. They detest anyone reining in their dictatorial style.

Like you, I witnessed the death. I'm mourning, believe me.

I know many are sick of the multiple threads about the Schiavo issue. However, this issue is a microcosm of everything that is so totally haywire about this country.

The centerpiece of this issue--is the agenda of the neocons, who use religion to rip a divisive, bitter chasm in this country. They are the most evil, vile creatures ever to exist on the face of this planet. Historically, they will be remembered as vile, shameless reptiles who used religion to cull votes and create hatred and bitterness in this nation. They are consciousless, dangerous lizards.

This issue magnifies their evil and their limitless capacity for using religion as a prop.

It's the reason why this country has lost its Constitution and why we're no longer a democracy. They've been able to convince truly religious and spiritual people that they are moral and the Democrats are evil, pagan pieces of scum. They do it with lies, manipulations, public-relations ploys and grandstanding.

These people are pure evil and they're sinking this country into a deep pit.

Wait until the blow back starts. There is 3-1 opposition in the public for government meddling in this and similar cases. This will embolden them to bring her to DC. That will be a 'meltdown moment.' After that, people will want to come here just to :puke: on their member of congress (if they voted yes on this).

45. 03/21/05 - 01:11 EST - The exact time Bush put a needle
into the neocon bubble by signing Terri's law.

There are a lot of people who are upset about this for every kind of reason.

The reason why?

There are a lot of people who are already getting into positions like this. THere are many rational people who are both republican and democrat who see this as being a very personal issue with the aging of the baby boomer generation being most direction connected to this.

It is depressing. How many more cases will the U.S. Congress agree to hear? At what point of the appeals process can one take the matter to Congress (just in case I get a speeding ticket)? Oh wait the Congress is supposed to be the legislative branch. Still depressed but feeling a bit better.
