Do the Schindlers have standing under this new "Law"?
Edited on Mon Mar-21-05 02:40 AM by Sandpiper
If so, how?

How would the Schindlers have standing to bring a case on Terri's behalf if they are neither 1) Her next of kin, 2) Her legal guardians?

1. They have standing
I believe the law specifically grants them standing.

Anyone want to clarify this?

3. Yes, that is what I heard
that this new law specifically gives them standing.

2. Well, they've always had a measure of standing...
....under the rule of "anyone can sue anyone over anything".

All the bill passed tonight does is allow them to file for an appeal of the Florida decision in a Federal Court of Appeals. That court may or may not agree to hear the appeal.

7. Oh, I did not realize that, so her parents and siblings are blood...
...relatives but under the law are not next of kin. What power does next of kin carry then? I suppose a lot as Newt Gingrich and a number of other republican reptilian brained sociopaths divorced, denounced and otherwise abused and mistreated spouses on their death beds. Sorry, I can't recall the names of the other despicable republican slugs who did this as the moment, maybe some DUers can provide help with that.

6. The law is specifically written to give the Schwindlers standing
It gives special rights and overturns court rulings on the state level.

In other words, one can now petition Congress to adjudicate a case when one has exhausted all means. You get a completely second chance if Congress deams you worthy. Step right up. Ddid you lose that case over your neighbor's dog? Petition your Cnmgresscritter for a second chance at the federal level!

8. Is this the beginning of wearing the mark of the devil "666" on....
...our foreheads?
