1991: Right-to-life wanted fetus to survive more than comatose "host"

mother. Remember Nancy Klein? The Long Island woman was in a coma, was 16 weeks pregnant, doctors said she had a better chance of surviving if she had a therapeutic abortion. Her husband, Marty Klein opted for the abortion as he didn't want her to die, and right-to-lifers tried to wrest control of her care from him? (They failed.)

In that case, the viable and NON-brain dead woman existed. The fetus was
not viable. I can't remember how George H.W. Bush exactly dealt with it, but I think he didn't want her to get the abortion if she couldn't wake up and ask for it. And she couldn't.

The hypocrisy of saving comatose, vegetative women as long as they aren't pregnant is astounding.
