So, if I'm uninsured and dying of a terminal illness in the hospital
The U.S. Congress is going to swoop in as my angel of mercy and not allow the HMOs and Hospital administration to deny me medical care that I need to live? Yeah right, doubtful. Hopefully every person in that scenario will petition Congress for intervention in such cases, let's see what those fuckwits Republican vultures do then.

1. Unless you live in Texas
When Bush was gov he signed into law that the hospital can pull life support over the objections of the family members.

2. That's what I was going to ask.

Who is going to continue to pay for Shiavo's upkeep? Will the Feds now take on the payments for all patients in the country who are in a vegetated condition? The brain-dead fundies and pro-birth goobers have no realization that this bill is a two-edged sword. If the government can decide who lives, it can also decide who dies. Giving the Feds the right to make these decisions is way beyond "1984"...

5. You know, that is one of the things that is so ironic
about this whole situation. If she were indigent and fighting for her life, I and most progressives that I know, would strongly advocate that the government pay the bill - and the fundie/pugs would be howling to "pull the plug!" (just like Bush in Texas). But now, that it is a political plus for the anti-Christers to want to "save" an already dead person they beat their breasts and scream "compassion!" - as if they knew the meaning of the word...
