What Mainstream media do you have the most faith in?
I don't know if the Guardian or the Independent counts as mainstream but my votes go to:

The Guardian
The Independent
The New Yorker

Any other votes?

13. BBC Internationally-Domestically ABC
I switched to ABC ~10 years ago. I have found it to be the most reliable. Yes they still follow the pack journalists but recently they have reported on things no one else would-they broke the Schiavo Talking Points story on Friday and they took the Repubs apart of false and misleading statements too.

8. PBS is feeling pressure from corporate donors
and has been running more and more stuff from right wing stink tanks like Heritage. They're keeping David Brooks up to his ears in Italian suits in the name of "fairness." They no longer provide much of an alternative.

BBC has also been infected. They dropped their former anchor, Hussein, in favor of the frosty blonde Katy (Catty) Kay, someone previously assigned to follow the Bush campaign in 2004 and who is obviously smitten with His Dumbinence.

I can't think of anything mainstream that is particularly trustworthy. They're all corporate owned and they all serve that master, not the public.

Bring back the fairness doctrine, and maybe my television will be turned back on. Right now, it's adamantly OFF. I don't need the rise in blood pressure that the propaganda hour brings. Bring back the fairness doctrine, and maybe my local newspaper will supply something besides the entertainment listings and something to start my woodstove with.

5. Hell, ask me what kind of capital punishment I would prefer
Electrocution?
Hanging?
Lethal Injection?
Drawn & Quarter?

Seriously....

And to be honest MSM for the bulk of DUers (AKA - those of us in America) is Fox, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, & ABC with PBS borderline.

6. I'm Beginning To Think It Could Be
Al-Jazeera!! Tongue in cheek here, but maybe The New Yorker, thank God for Seymour Hersch!!

They say Al-Jazeera reporters were all recruited from BBC, but BBC has gotten it CORRECT more often than not.

Trouble is, too many people aren't reading or listening to the information.

9. The only people who critisize AJ are Rumsfeld
and people who can't back up any criticisms of AJ w/ any examples.

F**ck, At least they never have a headline that has to do w/ entertainment.

11. For me it's c-span.
They have the most diverse guests, read exerpts from all the major newspapers each morning, and give you the opportunity to hear most sides on each major story. You can then decide for yourself what's real and what's fabricated.

17. I admit they didn't cover the protests, and they were called on it.
Several callers this morning mentioned that, and blamed cspan for joining the other MSMs in the Terri case. I don't have a response for why they didn't covr any of the protests. I also don't know who makes the decisions on what they cover and what they don't.

I still think they do a much better job than any of the other chanels. For what it's worth, I didn't hear the protests covered anywhere except the internet. DU is where I found out they even had any.

18. I Agree C-Span Is A Last Refuge
but I HAVE NEVER seen them NOT cover a Protest. I've been a BIG supporter of Brian Lamb since the 80's and am overwhelmingly perplexed as to WHY he let this happen!

Instead we were bombarded with coverage of the Terri Schiavo case, as was mentioned on C-Span this AM by several callers!

I live in Florida and am getting SICK of this case. We had it on the front burner ever since JIB-JAB-JEB got involved. I hate to be heartless, but for what it's worth I don't think she CAN respond, part of me says OK PUT THE FEEDING TUBE BACK IN and give her to the parents.

But then again, WHY should we let RW politicians RULE this way???? Seems to me it was the REPUKES who have always touted getting GOVERNMENT OUT of our personal lives. I've seen nothing but interference these days!!!

Whoops, guess I got off the subject here. I did post at other sites about my anger about the downfall of this America. It's not one I've seen ever before!! And it just seems C-Span has been duped to some extent. Yes, they did have that woman on talking about what she sees in Iraq and that was good, but Peter, Pedro & Connie HAVE changed!

14. CBC
BBC
Not ONE mainstream outlet in the US, newspapers or TV reports the news anymore, imo, they opine on issues instead. They no longer need separate opinion columns because it is all opinions now, no straight reporting.

they're one of the few shows a lot of people watch that actually delves into stories that other media ignore.

19. My votes are
MOST TRUSTED: Consortiumnews.com-outstanding people who do great work when it comes to finding out the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!!!
BBC-they may be biased at times, but at least they're not controlled by *
ABC-they ARE controlled by * to a certain extent, but they have been ballsy lately.
