Charles Darwin stickers and bookmarks http://www.swarthmore.edu/NatSci/cpurrin1/evolk12/posse/chazhasaposse.htmThese stickers and bookmarks are being introduced to increase awareness and appreciation of Charles Darwin. His theory of natural selection in 1859 provided a simple, non-supernatural explanation for how life on earth had evolved and continues to evolve. Although scientists worldwide view evolution and natural selection as completely uncontroversial, popular support in the United States is waning, especially with respect to the origin of humans. Without more public displays of affection for the theories of natural selection and evolution, it is likely that more and more schools will allow or even promote the teaching of evolution "alternatives" that invoke
magic by supernatural entities. To provide some of the needed visible support for science and reason, please consider distributing Darwin-themed bookmarks to your geeky friends, or by stickering something with his image. Sure, these efforts are probably completely futile, but wouldn't you sleep better tonight knowing that you've done your part to delay our slip into Dark Ages II, even if only by a few days?

Who needs stickers?PUBLIC SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHERS: Giving one of these beauties to a student says "Good job!" much better than one of those pathetic smiley faces. Also wonderful for Darwin Day celebrations on February 12th. COLLEGE BIOLOGY TEACHERS: If you feel idiotic giving "extra credit points" for class competitions, why not give out a Darwin sticker as a prize, instead? LABORATORY SUPERVISORS: Leaving out a pile of Darwin stickers improves lab moral faster than a box of Krispy-Kremes, and they won't cause heart disease and obesity. PARENTS: Stickers make great stocking stuffers and party favors for your children and their friends. LOVERS OF CAR ART: Like science but don't like to offend or annoy people? Please note that this sticker has been carefully designed to be pro-science, not anti-religion. (Darwin's undergraduate degree was in theology, not biology.) You can, therefore, stick one of these on your car's bumper without worrying when Flanders is going to let the air out of your tires. EVERYONE ELSE: If you are not a teacher, don't run a research laboratory, hate kids, and could care less about science, you should still value the production of students (i.e., future voters) who lean toward natural explanations of reality and favor, in general, rational approaches to life's challenges. So use a sticker to show you care.
