Bill Hicks, meet Terri Schiavo

In a prescient Bill Hicks rant from "Rant in E-Minor", our dear departed hero goes off on pro-life "evil idiot annoying fucks".

He turns his attention to the logical extension of the pro-life mindset:
"you're so pro-life, do me a favor: lock arms & block cemetaries."
"(But) she was 96, she was hit by a bus"
"There's options...get her out of that casket, get her out. she's not going. we're pro-life people; there will be no death on this planet."

I doubt Bill ever envisioned that his Rant would come to life. If he had lived to see it, he would have died of an Aneurysm yesterday.

I have seen 2 adults, my Father-in-Law of early-onset Alzheimers, and my Uncle of Meningitis, die in exactly the way that Michael Shiavo wants to let his wife die. It is a peaceful way to go. This is what Morphine was INVENTED FOR. It is the MERCIFUL thing to do. It is the CHRISTIAN thing to do.

...if the Federal judge tosses out "Terri's Law" today.;)

I don't know exactly why, but this whole pandering thing to me seems to imply that the federal court will rubberstamp the intentions of the Congressional Republicans.

Since this has been heard in nine state courts, the only purpose the government could have in sending this to the federal court system is to get a reverse decision. Ask as wingnut how many times the courts need to hear this case, and they'll tell you - "until they get it right."

Just drink the Kool-Aid and become unencumbered by the thought process. It worked for 51 million people on Nov. 2 - it'll work for you.

The sad part is that my wife and I have both expressed our interests in not becoming like Terri, but we know her parents are both pro-life nutcases and will fight me to keep her alive if (God forbid) something like this happens to her.
