4. That Is Mike Hoffman From The MOJO Interview....
Very Cool!!

<snip>

The co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War knows firsthand why the United States' mission in Iraq is the wrong war.

Mike Hoffman
Interviewed By Eva Steele-Saccio

October 11, 2004

Corporal Mike Hoffman knows firsthand why the United States' war in Iraq is the wrong war. Deployed with his Marine Corps unit in February 2003, Hoffman fought in both Tikrit and Baghdad. Though he had his doubts about the war from the start, he saw going to Iraq as a matter of professionalism and loyalty. But it soon became clear to him that the U.S. occupation was doing more harm than good -- to both Iraqis and Americans. "The hardest thing,” he says, "is knowing what we’ve done to the kids there."

After returning home with an honorable discharge last August, Hoffman decided to do something. Teaming up with a small group of fellow soldiers, Hoffman co-founded the organization Iraq Veterans Against the War, to push for an end to the Iraq occupation and advocate for the rights of returning soldiers. Hoffman has spoken at hundreds of antiwar events, giving voice to the concerns of soldiers who've returned from Iraq, and those who are still there and have doubts about the war but are nervous about speaking out.

Hoffman recently spoke to MotherJones.com by phone from his home in Pennsylvania.

I know we have to try not to alienate or offend people, but "Sign the heck up" doesn't quite have the same... punch to it? :)

10. Yellow ribbon stickers on cars
There was a discussion a while back on this. I said there were two kinds here in NY; yellow, and red, white, and blue. Ok, so yesterday I was at the Mall early, waiting for one store to open and had time to kill. I went around the parking lot looking at those stickers up close. Yep, I was right. One side of the yellow ribbon stickers said, Support our troops. The OTHER side of the ribbon said, "BRING THEM HOME." The red, white and blue ones also said, Support our troops, but the other side said, "God Bless America." Yellow stickers were in the definite majority. Only a handful of the red, white, and blue.

I just love this BLUE State. Thank you, neighbors!

12. THanks! Here's news from Las Vegas: 25+ arrested/detained
Thanks for the cool pictures from Fort Bragg. We had three actions here in Las Vegas on Saturday and the last one (on the Strip) ended in unfair arrests. Indymedia links in the following:

14. I was there - best march I ever attended.
The best tactic we have is to get behind these anti-war groups started by veterans and soldier's groups.

They will be listened to as the tree-huggers will always be mocked and never taken seriously.

Offer them support in whatever way you can. This is our biggest hope of making any impact.

38. the site has been censored!
I live in Nepal where a royal coup took place on Feb 1. The press is censored and I'm now certain that my ISP has been told to block access to this site. It must link to the Maoist website in some way. Amazing... my first real experience of what it would/will be like when the Bushies take over the Internet. VERY SCARY.

I was there at the Fayetteville demo as well. The strength of it was not in numbers, but in the large contingent of military families and veterans that made the trip to NC.

33. for each person that came to Ft. Bragg...there's THOUSANDS more back home
Edited on Tue Mar-22-05 03:34 PM by diamond14

many couldn't come because they are old, or sick, or had to work, or take care of babies, or fearful for their careers....but they were there in spirit....and thank YOU for being there when we needed you...both at Ft. Bragg and in Iraq...

it is my belief that EACH PERSON in every photo represents the hopes and feelings of thousands more back home....

now, we have to work to get the PHOTOS out to the WORLD on the Internet....since the CON (Corporate Owned News) just BLACKED-OUT this MAJOR earthshattering event....I feel like I have to break through Soviet Pravda just to get this news out....What has happend to our country?
