3. Interesting, If True, Ma'am
There is no doubt a tremendous amount of "profiteering" has gone on during the occupation....

4. The missing $9 Billion should be Dem war cry....
Edited on Mon Mar-21-05 01:48 PM by grumpy old fart
but it isn't. Why? We should be pushing for "Truman commission" type hearings on the waste and fraud that is rampant in this war. What could possibly be the Repuke response? The American people don't want, need or deserve an accounting of their tax dollars?

5. Exactly
Dems should be screaming for accountability & investigations. Get all of the thugs on record against an investigation & when the Dems are refused, *blam* that will be a campaign issue that these thugs will have a diffucult time shrugging off.

9. I just remembered...
Durbin and another Senator (sorry, can't remember his name) wrote an amendment to the budget bill that would have created a bipartisan commission to keep track of all funds going to our theaters of war and investigate all allegations of impropriety. He specifically argued about the nine million, bag fulls of cash filled without any records, and specific charges against "contractors" who drove forklifts off of a cargo plane, took them off base painted them, and them resold them to the US.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you how that amendment fared in the Senate.
Along party lines. Who woulda thunk?

12. The problem is, we don't stay on it....we lose and then slink back
into the cage only to emerge and bark harmlessly at the next mess the chimp serves up. This is one issue that cuts across party lines, as far as the public is concerned. There is no right and left on accounting for billions of taxpayer dollars. The public would bring pressure on this, if only we would keep it in front of them long and loud enough. Every interview, public appearance could start with; "Where's the 9 billion? Why can't we get an accounting?"...not to mention not voting for another dime for the wars until we get a hearing. (oops, too late for that one)

11. They won't - Washington politics are a mafia
The Dems will not do anything in our favor (save for the few and courageous like Barbera Boxer, Cynthia McKinney and R Conyers).

They will always protect their fellow Goodfellas. not us.

F***ing pigs

13. $1.4 billion here, $1.4 billion there are but mere chicken feed with
hundreds of billions being spent in Iraq with precious little accountable. Get used to it, no story here, move on.
