So the Bush admin. causes an energy crisis and again blames Congress
and others for it and demands that they solve the problem. Bush's call today for Congress to present him with an energy bill is the second most political bullshit of the day, following behind the Teri Schaivo incident.

Will the people ever hold this administration accountable for anything?
And the hypocrisy is maddening. Calling for conservation from a Republican is one of the most hypocritical political moves in history!

1. Step One to resolve our energy crisis: Impeach Bush.
Step Two: Prosecute Cheney.

2. Did he really?
I was wondering why ANWR was pulled out of the energy bill and put in the budget a week or so ago - and suspected that it had to do with strategizing to get this baby back on the table. And he already called to do it?

Geez.

Let me try to remember the numerous gross things that were in it the last time around:

-gives power of immenent domain to corporations for energy transmission (eg companies can take land from private owners)
-tons of tax breaks
-discouragement of clean coal technology (env)
-takes away states ability to regulate energy - gives to FERC (who let Enron get away with HUGE market manipulation and has been slow to take action to rectify the billions stolen from western states citizens and corporations)
-gets rid of PUCHA - a regulatory org set up by FDR to give transparency oversight to prevent the then common practice of company a owning comapny b that delivered product x for company a and gouged company a (and since they are the same - gouged consumers)...
-opens more drilling areas on private land BUT requires the feds to pay things like - transporting drilled oil from the spot of drilling to the point out of the govt land area.

anyone remember more?

3. Did anyone see this? Is he beginning a push for this awful bill?
and what ever happened to the status of the various cases trying to compel Cheney to discuss the energy task force meetings?

6. The only problem with that...
would be that the energy crisis was going to happen with Bush or without him, unfortunately. I certainly don't support Bush or approve of his administration, but blaming THIS on him is just stupid. I suppose it's Bush's fault that OPEC is producing full-out and has no excess capacity? I suppose it's Bush's fault that China and India's energy consumption have skyrocketed in the past five years, driving tremendous increases in global energy demand? I suppose it's Bush's fault that North American natural gas production has peaked and is in irreversible decline?

Absurd. This was going to happen one way or another; unfortunately, the US has the bad luck to have the WORST possible leadership now that the crisis is upon us.
