11. Her parents are not acting in her best interest -
they want to keep her alive for selfish reasons. Very, very sad.

10. Drinking slurpies caused my cerebral cortex to liquify...
But it went away in a couple days. No big deal.

7. Nope, that is as dead as a mind can get
The body may still be functioning. But her mind, the person inside, is dead and gone. Even if we were able to reconstitute the brain through cloning technology or some other technique it would not be her inside there. All the experiences and memories that define her are irrevocably gone. It would be the quivalent of giving someone a brain transplant. Sure it keeps the body alive but its not the same person walking around in it.

9. What about that woman making the rounds on radio shows
what was her deal. Someone told me she had a condition just like Terri's, but I don't know if that was true.

18. I know what she suffered from and it isn't anything like Terri Schiavo
That woman suffered from "locked in" state. That's a brain problem where the brain stem, which controls motor function, reflexes etc. is damaged. They are often frozen and cant move but they can think and sometimes respond to questions by blinking their eye's for yes and no..people who are lock in can think and have memories, feelings, emotions etc..

Terri Schiavo has complete cerebral cortex death. That pretty much means she's dead. She has no emotions, memories, thoughts, everything that made her a person is gone.

The 2 problems do involve the brain but completely different parts.

That woman is just shilling for the fundies. She's got to know her problem wasn't anything like Terri's.

13. George W. Bush was the first....But a full comeback is still under review.
Only if they can successfully transplant a brain. Terri's parents are blatantly LYING about her condition.
7 hours of tape with her mother asking her the same question thousands of times. they get one slight lip curl during this 7 hours and they call it brain function.

15. I dont think they are blatantly lying...
I think they are seriously deluded and filled with a false belief because they cant let go.

19. I've been following this very closely for years and years
and the Schindler family are very dishonest, there's no doubt about it for me. I thought for a long time that they were deluded and couldn't let go, but I just learned to much and actually saw them lying many, many, many times. The judge said in the original ruling that the Schindlers had a problem with Michael because of the money....they didn't get any.
All the lies and false accusations....
No, the Schindlers aren't delusional, they know exactly what they're doing.

14. There is no way to regenerate cerebral cortex
Edited on Mon Mar-21-05 03:50 PM by Walt Starr
Hydroencephaly is ultimately terminal. Eventually, the brain stem will deteriorate and she'll have to be put on a ventilator and then finally her heart will cease beating.
