I've seen Elian's name bandied about recently and it reminded

me of a joke:

When they asked Bill Clinton why he did not intervene in the Elian Gonzales controversy, he simply stated:
"Last time I put a Cuban somewhere, I got impeached."

I thought we could all use a laugh.

1. I was thinking how the political atmosphere around the Terri Schiavo case

is a lot like the Elian Gonzalez case. The Schiavo case in many ways isn't nearly as complicated, but in many ways it's more complicated. My point is, the political demagoguery is similar. Republicans using a tragic case to further their own political agendas

Especially when there was talk last week of pro-life activists storming the care center if Schiavo's feeding tube was removed. Reminded me of all those Cuban-American "activists" standing outside the home armed to the teeth.
