Is this where this is going? They overturn roe v wade and return power to the states, then have the state cases put in federal courts?

What kind of mischief are these scumbags up to now

1. The possibilities arising out of this matter are endless.
I suspect that they'll use this case as a precedent and use it to hijack myriad other issues.

2. I think they are just using this case to 'fog' the abortion rights groups.
They have no intension of going up against womankind on abortion. They know that making abortion rare has support - but nobody wants to see teenage girls and poor women dying from coat-hangers. Everyone knows that the rich women will just hop on a plane to go shopping in Canada.

The Bushies do not want to be associated with the end of access to abortion. Why Bush couldn't even make it to the Anti-abortion demonstration around the corner from the WH. He called in his support. And after they won him the election.

No - Terry Shavo is crumbs thrown to little people to keep them 'high' and to stop the grumbling that had occurred. This law is really of no consequence so it is free for the Repukes to put it up. Look for a public debate on a vial of stem cells next. As always.. there will be no meat in it. It is solely meant to keep the kool-aid drinkers from testing out that they have been duped. Look for more bones to be thrown. No way in hell they want to fix the issue? Why how would they win elections if they fixed the issues that allowed them to slice & dice.

3. One point
I think you're wrong about this: nobody wants to see teenage girls and poor women dying from coat-hangers.

I honestly do believe, mainly from my own experience with these people, that many, many of the Talibornagains who now have access to the inner circles of federal leadership do. not. care. about women who are hemorraghing on the kitchen floor after shoving a knitting needle into their cervix. They think that women deserve that fate for being sluts and not keeping their legs closed and for not accepting Gawd's will regarding the life inside them. It's no different than the masses of fundamentalists who will tell anyone they know that AIDS was a punishment for the evils of homosexuality.

Google "Gerri Santoro" and read some of the *ahem* "pro-life" comments about what happened to her.

4. Oh - I hear you. There are some real creeps. I mean the human
Americans. A vast majority of them would like to see abortion rarer.. but do not want to see people getting hurt because they are totally illegal. I think it was a poll that Chomsky told someone about in an interview posted on the DU yesterday. Something about Chomsky being 76.
