Iraq deteriorating
"Two years after the invasion of Iraq the rate of US soldiers being killed is averaging 18 a week, almost double the rate in the first year after the war."

"Despite the hopeful sign of so many Iraqis turning out to vote, most of those with hands-on experience of what is going on there despair for the future.

"I was there for the elections and a little afterwards and it is worse now than it has ever been," said former SAS soldier and security operator Paul Jordan of AKE Australia. "Every time I go there it is more restricted than before," said Mr Jordan, who does security protection for media and business people visiting Iraq.

"The average Iraqi is worse off now than before the war. Iraqis are as much a target for kidnappings and crime as foreigners." "

I remember before the war, someone said that if, two years from then, the US would still be losing 2 or 3 soldiers a week, that would be a serious problem for Bush. Well, here we are and it's 18 a week plus all the wounded. And it doesn't seem to be much of a problem for him! Not to mention: no WMD, and "the average Iraqi is worse off now than before the war", to quote the former SAS (Australian special forces) soldier.

And yet, reality be damned, the grand imperial chimp asserts that the War on Iraq was a "landmark event in the history of freedom":

1. this is the MOST important issue..thanks for bringing it to DU's attention

in all the 'chattering about a brain-dead body", even DUers have lost their way, sucked into a BIG MEDIA CIRCUS, while OUR soldiers are KILLED every day, and the WAR continues to make things WORSE, and OUR OWN MILITARY revolts against bush* wars down at Ft. Bragg...

Thanks for YOUR very important post..

4. Deaths in Iraq don't seem to be important to...
most Amerikans. The troops are fighting for our Freedom so if they die or are maimed in that effort that's what is supposed to happen. It's God's will. A body that is breathing but will never do more than that is way more important.

Is it comatose?
Being fed through a tube?
There IS fighting over who gets to care for it?
Has Frist watched the video and determined that it's ALIVE??
