Could someone explain the Pro and Anti-Ahnold ads on nursing?
Some are praising the gropenator others comdemning him. One of which is strictly union-bashing.
What is actually true?

1. A friend sent this to me on 3/16

"The California Hospital Association today plans to file an appeal and request for an immediate stay of a state court ruling earlier this month that reinstated a mandatory 1:5 nurse-to-patient staffing ratio for hospital medical-surgical units in the state. If approved, a stay would allow hospitals to return to the law's original 1:6 ratio until the Third District Court of Appeals hears the case. A Sacramento Superior Court Judge ruled March 4 that the California Department of Health Services overstepped its authority in issuing emergency regulations last November to suspend the 1:5 ratio. CHA says the lower ratio would force hospitals to choose between closing beds and eliminating patient care services by requiring an additional 4,000 nurses at a time when California hospitals already have 14,000 vacant positions. The state also filed an appeal of the court decision yesterday."

on Edit: Arnold is the one trying to raise the nurse to patient ratios.

2. The Gropenator is anti Union.
He is also a liar and an enemy of the Middle Class, Working Poor and the Poor. The people of California screwed up royaly by electing this Repug.

3. When I was in hospital, waiting to deliver my high risk (now very
healthy and happy) son, the RN assigned to me was working TWO FLOORS. Facing an impending insulin reaction, I called and called for help--there was one RN for two floors.

Finally (thank God I speak Spanish) the janitorial worker understood my problem and got me some apple juice on the QT. She probably saved my life that nioght. The nurse was of course apologetic, and I didn't put any blame on her.

This is unconscionable. I hope he gets stuck in a hospital someday, hooked up to IVs and machines. I hope he has some well read nurses, too--I know many nurses, and they are seething at the man--and I DON'T live in California.

4. So thats the only alternative? Increase the ratio or close beds and ...
eliminate patient care. Its that black or white?
