MSNBC Dan Abrams: "This legislation is shameful." - WOW
He just gave his clearly-labeled opinion.

Talked about the fact that this is about WHAT TERRI WANTED - which has been litigated and determined the same way over and over again for 15 years.

This legislation is shameful. Not about what her parents wanted. Not about what her husbands wanted. If you discount all that work in the Flordia courts, you are basically saying that the courts don't matter. I hope my wife would fight for me in this situation. It's been fully litigated. You can't take it away from the state courts SIMPLY BECAUSE you do not agree.

THANK YOU DAN!!!!

He's smarter than the average bear.

2. He also has a law degree from Columbia, so he's not stupid.
Anyway, now we can laugh at Republicans when they say they're for less government intervention.

Stupids.

5. maybe the GOOPERS have jumped the shark this time around!
... let's hope that this legislative event will prove to be the "irrational exhuberance" that does them in politically ...

7. Any chance this thing is going to the U.S. Supreme Court?
if the federal judge finds against the parents' petition? In that case, the constitutionality of the legislation itself will be at issue.

13. If the State of Florida has standing and chooses to file
it could go directly to the U.S. Supreme Court under original jurisdiction. I'm not sure under what argument they could push this, but maybe Jeb Bush is thinking about it. I know that under Article III, Section 2 "where a State shall be a party" original USSC jurisdiction has commonly applied only where two States have a dispute. But given the political focus of this case, we might see some creative arguments crop up. Sandra Day O'Connor has already pushed to broaden the rights of the States to go directly to the Supreme Court under Article III, when they have a dispute with the federal government.

12. Damn straight it's shameful
I wish all the limp dicks in congress would start fighting for more appropriate things, like stem cell research that could have helped Mrs. Schaivo recover possibly.

And that girl in florida that was raped then killed, why not fight for tougher laws against sex offenders?

why not fight for a national health care system?

why not fight for cleaner sources of energy?

why not fight for higher education for our public schools?

I will tell you why, becuase all of them are a bunch of limp dick bastards that are so pussified and won't stand for anything worth while. It seems to me more and more everyday that these people aren't fighting for us anymore, they talk the talk but won't dare walk the walk becuase they are afraid they will lose votes. If things keep up like this we as a country are fucked.

IMHO. end of rant.
