Is US politics headed to Three Sooges style piefight?
Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 04:01 PM by Armstead
It strikes me with this whole surreal circus of right wing conservatives almost obliterating "checks and balances" that the very system of government could be entering a new level of total chaos and anarchy.

It's almost like one of those scenes from a Three Stooges movie. A poilite dinner party is interrupted by someone tripping and accidentally sending their pie into someone's face. Then the other person retaliates by tossing a pie at the person who tripped. That splatters onto someone else standing nearby, who then throws anotehr pie, etc. etc.

Pretty soon all sense of decoum and etiquette have been forgotten and the whole gathering has turned into a no-holds barred pie fight.

The Terri Schiavo Congressional circus seems like it's a step in that direction. Only a very small pretense of reasonableness by the Republicans. Just tossing a pie, along with all the otehr pies they've tossed recently.

If this keeps up, any veil of illusion of a real goivernment that acts responsibly will be fogotten. Instead it'll be one burlesque of whacky antics and counter antics.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe it'll be some kind of release to see the illusion stripped away and lose its pretenses of respectability and contiunue towards some kind of slapstick black comedy.

Maybe that's what's needed to wake up the country and see how they've turned over the government to Moe Larry and Curly.

4. I don;t think it's been this whacky before
Usually there's at least a veneer of tradition and respectability.

2. Privately, Tom Delay seems to be happy with it all
"One thing that God has brought to us is Terry Schiavo, to help elevate the visibility of what's going on in America," DeLay said Friday.

I can almost hear the "Three Blind Mice" theme playing when I see Delay, Jeb, and the Chimp prancing across our TV screens.

3. Oohhh, A wise guy,
I hope they televise it on c-span. I can see it now. Barney Frank has Tom DeLay's nose in pliers dragging him around.

8. Damn! I think the bowl cut
is quite flattering to the Chimpenator. It brings out his cheekbones and downplays the perpetual befuddled look of his eyebrows.

But I guess it's time to replace Larry Powell with Larry Delay.

Or add Shemp Frist.
