Oh, God, here comes the anti-Dem spin... on MSNBC
Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 05:13 PM by jdj
So now the repukes know they are going to lose this, and they are saying that dems failed to "stand up for Terri Schiavo". Ron Reagan is bashing dems, "this is why as a liberal, I'm not a democrat." The newsbot just said she is a republican.

When the fuck do journalists reveal their political affiliation on air or in print?

Dems "missed the boat" on this, and Repukes "leapt before they looked".

Ron Reagan is a fucking moron to jump on this bandwagon, I can't believe he doesn't see what is going on.

"now, john, lets get back to the issue of the democrats on this..."

I"m repulsed.

!! dem strategist made a great point about how medicaid is helping Terri while Bush wants to cut $15 billion from medicaid.

15. I Don't Think That's What He Meant
I was listening to the TV while I was in the other room, and I think he IS criticizing the Dems... For not sticking up for Terri and Michael Schiavo. For letting the Repubs frame this argument and grandstand. That's how I took it, anyway. Ron Reagan has been squarely behind Michael Schiavo on this.

And for the record, I agree with him: it's why I'm not a Democrat, either, although that's how I vote. Not too many Democratic Socialist candidates in my neck of the woods.

21. I'm not talking about his stance on Michael Schiavo.
I'm talking about his stupidity in participating in the right's attempt to turn focus fromt his major republican gaffe to the "failure of dems" to do whatever the hell the right wants to portray them as having failed to do.

14. absolutely not out of context.
I quoted him saying "this is why as a liberal, I am not a democrat", the dems "missed the boat" "failed to stand up for Terri Schiavo" and "flip-flopped" this morning on their votes.

He's an idiot right now, in this case. Of course they had some other repuke on there, but the one dem strategist handled all three of them very well, despite being out-numbered.

I loathe dems who can't see that they are being used as tools, Reagan ought to be smart enough to see that he is being used in this case to turn focuse from this MAJOR FUCK-UP of the repukes to a dem failure somehow. By now, Reagan ought to know this is repuke SOP.

17. I'm TiVoing it now, so I'll see it later on.
Perhaps by "failing to stand up for Schiavo" he meant "telling the right wing to get their hands off the case and stop treating it like a political football" which the Democrats in the Senate didn't do.

Anyway, I'll see it later.

24. if it means that much to you then I wouldn't watch it.
You seem to be going to great lengths to try to convince yourself Reagan wouldnt' do what he did and say what he said. He said it. He did it. Which isn't the point, the point is that he isn't politically astute enough to understand he is being used, and to understand that we need to keep the repukes under the lens while this plays out, as they are the power brokers in this case. Dems are powerless to do much at all, and the fact that 104 dems in the house didn't even vote on this shows some of them at least understand that.

29. okay, I'm reassured.
I know alot of people here are a fan of his. I hate to say this, but as soon as any one of "our people" take a job on one of those networks, I write them off. That may be wrong, but it's just too painful to watch it play out, it's like having a close friend in an abusive relationship, and she keeps going back no matter how badly she gets beaten each time. At some point you just have to separate yourself.

31. The only thing I feel a wee bit smug about is
that I have kept my vow to never watch CNN or Faux again or MSNBC (except for Countdown with Olbermann once in awhile) since November 3rd. I will never ever watch Hardball or any show with the premise that he/she said is reality and that there is never any objective fact.

I don't have to hear their lies and distortations and actually my life is better.

I don't get the ad nauseum play of the abducted and murdered child (depresses me all day)or court case-because it's all death porn all the time AND bashing Dems.

That's all they show.

28. What issue of the Democrats?
With the help of the Democrats, the Republican's got their unconstitutional bill passed in Congress.

Exactly how are they blaming this on Democrats? If they're talking the general population, well the polls I've seen not only show a majority of Democrats oppose this action but the majority of Republicans and Independents do too.

Sick.

If they want to *blame* someone, blame the law and the many courts that have ruled in favor of the law.

39. what's her face is a nobody, posing as a journalist.
it's one thing if you are a celebrity of some sort, but when you rep a news org like this as an employee of that news org, and have no other "claim to fame" then people will assume you are a reporter or journalist.

She is no different than any other face on their, and in that case every "pundit" should identify their political affiliation every time on air before they even address issues, to drive home the point that they are in no way objective, which is what reporters at least used to pretend to be.

I'm one of the most hesitant to bash Democrats I'm loyal to them as my party), but they ARE suffering a major lack of backbone. I was hoping they would have stood up on this one, but they disappointed me again.

I hope this teaches them that maybe they should be a bit more vocal in their opposition to these nuts.

also, they aren't in control of congress or the state leg. in FL. They played their hand well on this one, because the truth is it is a state's rights issue, a separation of powers issue, and a personal family issue, and congress doesn't have the right to be legislating on any of those.
