Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 10:23 PM by Amfortas
although his stupid idealism cost us the 2000 election , I can't help but admire him for not being a sleazy two faced politician.

This is not flamebait , just what I sometimes feel. I hope the day comes when someone can tell it like it is and still win an election.

1. I agree wholeheartedly
Sometimes he does rock.
But not always.
I contrast him to Dennis Kucinich, who always rocks IMHO.

2. WhatEVER Made You THINK That?
I saw him on Crossfire, and he advocated that the husband should relinquish the Guardianship and let the parents have it, and IT WOULD BE OVER SO SIMPLY.

Was there supposed to be somebody "on the Left" for us?

6. The LAST Time He Was on Our End of the Spectrum
was when he went after G.M. (what, 30 years ago?). He's been fucking us ever since.

7. Bush won. That has destroyed so much of the world. Until the far

right leaders admit that the Liberals are better than the Conservatives.. and that they are not just the same thing.. I am done with them.

I am a human being and markets have been a part of the lives of my ancestors for 10,000 years. It allowed for anything over and above basic needs being met. It created the middle class (especially when the elites no longer had all the control over the markets). I am sick and tired of the left wing Utopians like Nader pretending that they can ignore all of human history.

They have to pay attention to economic realities. They have to understand that we have no choice but to keep our borders open to trade. Until I hear the Utopian left accept the basic facts of my life and the life Ralph Nader leads every single day (does the man eat only the grass on his front lawn?) I will have nothing to do with him. All he does is act like the Utopian he is and scare off voters to the Democratic Party by creating a religion.

This are hard times (I used to say heady but that didn't mean what I thought it did). We have to behave as adults and put away childish ideologues and things and fight like adults. Adults fight with compassion, with might, with finesse, with full knowledge of their world, with discernment and by picking the fights that will take them to where they need to go.

8. I respected him more in the 2000 campaign.
It seemed like he wanted to build the Green Party. In 2004, he didn't bother waiting for the Green Party's nomination.

9. I wish he'd run for senate, or built a permanant progressive political
organization.

I dont know why Ralph chose elaborate publicity stunts as the proper use of his personal capital, but I dont pin it on idealism.

And the man lied about the democratic and republican parties, he correctly pointed out that thier rhetoric was very similar, and he right ly claimed that both are very close in comparison to the wide span of opinions in this country, but in overmaking that point and making it too simple he downplayed the sheer danger contained in the Republican party which I cannot imagine he was not aware of to at least some extent.

I dont think those means are justified by the ends.
