New meme for the fundies

Now, I'm not a biblical scholar, not even a Christian, but I've read the new testament. Whenever I see these (and other) statements from Jesus, I can't help but see in them a warning for these times, especially as related to the fundamentalist movement. A new meme needs to be put out that these people are those of whom Jesus called false prophets. It's so bloody obvious really.

Matthew 7:14-16 (King James Version)

15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?


Matthew 24:10-12 (King James Version)

10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Matthew 24:23-25 (King James Version)

23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25Behold, I have told you before.

And they don't follow the goddamn Bible.

The thing is, what many of them are being told, in light of the "end time" and "left behind" days goes something like this:

"These are the days of war, upheaval and false prophets. If you hear peace being spoken from the pulpit, run for your lives because you are in the presence of a false prophet."

And many believe it. They are not reasoning. Hence the support for unreasonable policies.
