A serious question about Terri and the Media
I have read poll after Poll that says most Americans agree with the husband and Terri should have her feeding tube remove, the polls also state that most Americans think the courts and politicans should stay out of it.

Could someone please explain to me though, "Why does every media group show protestors saying "Save Terri", when they are in the minority.

2. Was thinking the same thing.
If 80% of the country finds this action inappropriate, then for every two pro-feeding tube protestors they show, they should be showing 8 tube-removal folks.

3. If they televised the majority ...

... they'd just use webcams showing people walking along sidewalks, in the mall, grocery chopping, or commuting. The majority is never the 'news.'

OTOH, the majority is probably sitting back and watching the minority behave like loons. Let's hear what the ratings are, huh?

6. I feel so embarrassed
for the family. Government is stepping all over a private matter. I'm glad the supes didn't hear the case-- it sends a great message to the interloping repubz, the freeps, etc. I can't get over the stupidity of conservative hate radio, like G Gordon Liddy, having commentary by people saying Terri can laugh, eat and drink; they don't realize that would obviate a feeding tube?!

At least all will get a book out of this tragedy. But that's just me being... GrouchierThanThou.

8. Manufactured News
This entire circus should have been played out privately and the compelling evidence here should have kept it that way, but that's not how things are in a world dominated by a corporate media corrupted and compromised by the Repugnican party and it's right wing zealots.

Call it the "Faux Factor", but the mindset in the corporate suites is the the wingnuts are the desireable viewers. They're easily targeted for the Viagra and Mortgage Scammers and large wealth of other corporate advertisers...many who support the Repugnicans. It's money, it's ratings, it's influence...the loser is the truth.

Someone put it great when they said that despite 80% saying how they think the tube remain out, the 20% who don't are making the most noise and are the most vocal...the old squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Lastly, nothing drives these networks more than emotional stories they can exploit for hours on end. This one is a real cheapie...most of the story is given to them by the right wing media machine and all they do is report what they're told. There's no investigative nature here...just playing to emotions and the higher the flame the higher the ratings.

The Save Terri signs (I saw one written in blood...sheesh) are part of that well orchestrated effort of the right wing propaganda machine that is blitzing on hate radio, corporate media and websites to stir up their base (shake 'em down for a few bucks while they're at it) and keep them distracted from other things going on.

Note how people keep reciting the same talking points, use the same buzzwords and echo the same lies over and over...it's all carefully done to play on the gullible or feed the ignorant.
