Where to spend my vacation dollars this year?
Well I was thinking of going to Fla.
Not anymore. Thinking maybe Santa Fe, looking for future retirement move.

7. Northern Arizona (The Grand Canyon, Flagstaff and Sedona esp)

are lovely and blue as can be

Tucson is nice

use Phoenix to fly in and grab a rental car. If you'd rather use a tour company I can highly recommend a Blue tour company that will get you around, then leave you free to explore on your own for a reasonable rate without spending all day on a big bus with a bunch of old cranky people. They truly offer the best of guided tours with lots of time on your own to explore

www.openroadtours.com click on "Vacation Packages"

PM me for a contact if you are interested :)

if you haven't seen the Grand Canyon it's well worth a trip!

10. Even this Canadian would agree with your suggestion
over Canada, well, almost, anyway, lol. I had the opportunity to visit those very places you recommend and had an absolutely wonderful vacation, breathtaking scenery.

I would add the place that has the donkeys as well, it was a hoot to visit there!

when I worked for the company

i'd be glad to help..... start with the Northern AZ adventure if you have a week to spend, they can shorten it if you don't have that much time

4. Looking for a blue state?
New Mexico is purple. You might push it to blue! Think of that as an incentive to go there.
If you like the ocean, the entire west coast is blue. I live in Seattle but would not recommend it as a place to retire. The Oregon coast might be good for you. It is warmer than most people think. You also have a nearby city, Portland, in case you start missing urban things.

5. If you're staying domestic...
Try San Diego, I hear that's a nice place to retire. A little 'spensive right on the beach but...

Another nice place that looks like a good retirement spot Big Sur Calif. A lovely active little town with a good liberal feel.

Santa Fe is nice, I went on vacation there a couple of years ago. It got a little boring as time went on, but the food is awesome!

If I were you I would just take my retirment money and move to Costa Rica. At least they have a fantastic environmental record and have had about 100 years of peaceful democracy. Unlike the US.

Good luck!
