It is indeed a very beautiful, powerful, and thought-provoking film. It takes place in Spain and the title means "The Sea Inside". It is about a man named Ramon who is a quadriplegic because of a diving accident and he wants to die with dignity, but he is constantly being denied his request for euthanasia. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but I will tell you this is an amazing film that you need to see. Everyone on DU must see The Sea Inside. There are many beautiful scenes that show the beauty of Spain and beautiful music score too. But be prepared for an emotional experience because this movie will make alot of people, including me, cry. And I'm a guy. :)

My rating : 10 out of 10 :P

3. Thanks for the nudge
I've been wanting to see this film since it won Best Foreign Film at the Oscars but haven't gotten around to it. Seems especially timely now. Thanks.

5. It has won some awards, I believe. I believe an Oscar, as well.
But I'll wait for it to come out on cable. It sounds a little heavy for me right now.

6. It is a TRUE story... it happened a few years ago...
In fact, just last week a Court dismissed the last charges against his friend Ramona (the woman who helped him die). In a similar way to the Schiavo case, his family claims she is a murderer... :eyes:

It is indeed a very beautiful and very powerful film!

8. in the movie, yes...
In real life her name is Ramona Maneiro.

Here's an article in Spanish about the dismissing of the charges.
