Founder of that outfit, I believe. Wife of Tim LaHaye, the "writer" who cranks out the Left Behind series. Or used to. I think LaHaye and his Fundie ghost writer had a big falling out over money.

If you're ever awake in the wee hours with nothing to do, TBN often runs those Left Behind movies. They're hilarious.

For my atheistic money, though, the best of the bunch is Megiddo: Omega Code II. Former Real Actors like Michael York, Diane Venora and Michael Biehn look properly embarassed in a cheesy apocalyptic yarn that wouldn't even make sense to the wackiest Fundie.

The budget was so low, during the battle of Armageddon, we see the same tank drive by the camera over...and over...and over...

She guested on Larry King recently, but she's about 180 years old and truly mentally ill. I think the organization keeps her under wraps.

...Jan Crouch. I was watching the Big TBN Xmas Special a few years ago. Jan and Paul were wandering thru one of their stores full of Jesus-Junk, begging for money.

Jan was obviously medicated, and very heavily. One time Paul asked her a question and she just stood there, glassy-eyed.

Paul looked so mad, I thought he was going to whack her over the head with a Life-Sized Baby Jesus.

When I got a load of Jan LaRue on MSNBC, I thought of this line from the film version of "Pride and Prejudice": "How clever of you, my dear Miss Bingley, to know something of which you are ignorant." It's a bit absurd to trot out someone who can't make any claim to understanding the medical condition of the patient.

She is also bad advertising for Concerned Women for America - rude, ignorant, and hostile. When I see her, I am CONCERNED for the women of America. :-)
