"ought to err on the side of life."
From EJ Dionne's column in the Post yesterday.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A64568-2005Mar24.html

we "ought to err on the side of life."
This was the GOP's justification for intervening in the Schiavo case.

I think the Democrats need to start using this term a LOT-- in support of things like keeping Social Security and Medicare funding intact, as well as things like starting wars.

Think it might work?

1. I've thought the same thing.
Err on the side of life... as in don't invade a country and kill 100,000 innocent civilians unless you have PROOF of your goddamn WMDs.

I think it would be great for Democrats to co-opt. Really helps display Repuke hypocrisy.

2. Even If you have proof don't go off killing thousands and thousands
of innocent people. Before the start of this war I read somewhere that about 1/2 of the people of Iraq were kids under 15 years old. If this is true they have been killing a lot of kids.

3. There are over 20,000 lives lost every day due to abject poverty
and Bush and company are not saying or doing anything about that culture of life.

Over 1500 Americans culture of life has been brutally ended in Iraq and we have brutally ended the culture of life of 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians.
Just what CULTURE of life is this fool referring to? To err on the side of life?
Show where you did this once, let alone in the Schiavo case you opportunistic bastard!

5. How about another , more appropriate slogan:

" We ought to err on the side of Truth".

6. I think it's a great phrase
especially since the court's in the Schiavo case *did* use a standard where they err on the side of life. They needed clear and compelling evidence that she wouldn't want life-prolonging measures used in this case in order to rule that her feeding tube should be removed. The default is life and was in T.S.'s case.

7. Would like to see someone come
up with a series of bumper stickers that use the line such as "Err on the side of Life - US Out of Iraq" or "Err on the side of life - Keep Social Security Intact"

Turn the phrase around on the bastards.
