Its not the folks who talk to their god that worries me,
Its the folks who hear his voice that scares the sh*t out of me.

1. Most offensive
This idea that they are singled out to go to heaven because of their believes while others go to hell for theirs is about the most offensive thing I can imagine.

2. And really
How elitist can you be when you think you're chosen by God? How WE got labeled "elitist" escapes me.

3. It is problomattic to me
I don't want to get into a long religiuos discussion. I am a Christian, but one of my biggest problems with the heaven and hell duology is the idea of infinite punishment for finite sins. Doesnt make sense.

As for assuming you are going to heaven while all around you are condemned to hell, one need only ask a few simple questions. Is that a charitable feeling? No. A charitable man or woman would feel compassion for those and want to help them. Instead of taking pleasure in spiritual superiority, they might feel pained at others suffering.

Is charity important to God? Well, yeah, he's made that pretty clear.

7. Believe in something that does not make sense
You identify yourself as Christian, saying that the heaven/hell thing does not make sense. How do you believe in something that does not make sense to you?
You also talk about finite. How can humans with their finite abilities explain the infinite?

9. Many would say that I do not believe in a mainstream church
While I do believe in the salvation of Jesus Christ, and his powers to cleanse sins, I do not believe in heaven and hell. Or at least not the same that others seem to.

I don't think you can completely comprehend the infinite, but you can move through it. For example, the ocean is huge, far beyond the capability ot man to understand - but maps and tidal charts and currants can be understood and mapped.

4. Islamic jihadists aren't the only God talkers
We have plenty of protestant ones right here in the US that have one on ones as well, and are usually the worst of the bunch.

5. It's the ones that say that god is talking through them that really

6. for me it all starts with the 'God Bless America' crap and spirals out of
control from there.

A preferred thought was displayed on a bumper sticker in MN the other day - "God Bless Everyone. Period." Let's get some equilibrium here!
