Attention All Talibornagain: These Are Republican Judges

Don't think you are going to even TRY to get away with screaming about appointing more "conservative" judges, once this Schiavo case has moved from the front pages.

Almost all of the judges in this case, all along the line, are Republicans. Judge Greer: Republican. The US Court of Appeals, 11th district: overwhelmingly Republican. The Unites States Supreme Court: 9 out of 11 justices are Republicans.

This happened in a state (FL) where there is a Republican Governor and the legislature is controlled by.... you guessed it... REPUBLICANS!

Your spin that this happened because there are not enough conservative judges is utterly bogus. You control the Republican party and you STILL couldn't pull this off.

What does this mean? It means, the people are on OUR side on this, and this is OUR wedge issue, not yours. So watch your back, because 06 and 08 are not going to be much fun for you and your political buddies.

The Presidency is controlled by a Republican and the entire congress of the US is controlled by Republicans.

This was all friendly territory for the fundamentalists. But they still lost, because AMERICA DOES NOT BUY THE FUNDAMENTALIST AGENDA.

I guess the polls that have been done reflect that America doesn't buy the fundamentalist agenda, maybe, but, just to clarify, do remember that public opinion hasn't been the thing that has directed the judges' rulings. The law has.

my point is that the leaders of the fundamentalist movement along with their puppets Bush and Delay will try to salvage this politically by yelling that this case highlights the fact that we need more "conservative" judges.

Our side needs to quickly point out that most of the judges who decided this ARE conservative judges, appointed by Republicans, so their argument is merely more political opportunism, trampling all over the graves of those who merely want to control their own medical decisions.

They thought that republican judges were going to fix all that, and that republican executives would ignore rulings, and that republican congressmen would pass laws, etc.

But it turns out that the vast majority of republicans are willing to pander to fundies just so much.

And something that aught not go by unnoticed is the polls taken almost daily. 80-odd% of the country is against government involvement in these issues, that means that the fundies (I mean the knuckle-dragging, drool-slinging fundies) are less than 20% of the population. The corporate media for years has tried to foist the lie upon the country that the fundies are a large number - it ain't so...

What they consider the Republican party... and what the party actually is today... seem to be two different things.

And that's the tough choice facing 'Republicans' today: Are you still willing to be associated with these radicals and lunatics?

Their successes over the last twenty years or so have come due to their coalition with the fascist Christian movement. The Republicans by themselves cannot muster enough votes to defeat the Democrats in almost any election. They are facing the problem of compromising their principles in order to win elections. And this is what happens - the "real" Republicans give up their principles, while the fascist Christians gain power. That is why I have always been against the Democratic party giving up its principles in order to make a coalition with centrist-RW elements, just to win elections. This is what happens; the majority give up their voice so that the minority can come to power. Never made any sense to me.

If His Chimperial Highness was just appointing real Republicans to judgeships, he would not find them rejected by Congress. He cannot get them through because they are, instead, ideological extremists.

But they aren't even Republicans themselves, except in name. They are extremists who hujacked the Republican Party.

They seek to place wackos, authoritarians, fundamentalists, fascists in judgeships. They want the Constitution second to their fave passages in the Old Testament. They want a Bible-based society, not one based on the Constitution.

Having the Schiavo case thrown out is going to alienate them from American law more than ever.

The fucking media have turned this tragic woman's story into the New Waco, and worked these emotional irrational people into a wild frenzy, and make them work against American law more than ever.

And who knows -- maybe there will be repercussions when these people decide to take the law into their own hands....
