Pontius Pilate.

Both Bush's will be compared to Pontius Pilate by the Radical Clerics and their Religiously Insane followers.

No politician wants to be a "Pontius Pilate", yet here are the heroes of the Religious Right nutballs setting themselves up willingly to become 21st century Pontius Pilates in the eyes of the Religious Right nutballs.

Terri = Jesus
Bush = Pontius Pilate
Republicans = Romans
Democrats = Judas

Micheal = a man that wants to let his wife die in peace and get on with his life.

When I read that he had a three hour window during which he could have ordered troops to take custody of Schiavo, and didn't. I flashed on the image of Pontius Pilate symbolically washing his hands.

That's why you don't make religiously insane freaks your power base.

They know this is about politics. They're smarter than you think. This whole thing always seemed like a show to me, even the protesters. I don't think these people really care about Terri Shiavo that much at all. They're political activists with an agenda that goes far beyond this case.

I even question the sincerity, at least to some degree, of the Schindlers - and especially the sister and brother. I just found out last night that they have a "Foundation" thats under investigation for its finances. Their website has links to all kinds of right-wing, anti-abortion groups. And according to an article in Salon, they're also active against gay marriage. I feel a little uncomfortable questioning their motives, but I have to be honest, I'm beginning to think that they are using their daughter/sister as a way to push a political agenda and a way to grow their Foundation - maybe thats not the way it started out but that's what they're doing now.

Most people on the religious right know what's possible and not in politics and I really doubt they'll hold anything against either of the Bushes. They played their role exactly the way they were suppose to.
