Listened to Ed Schultz for the first time today
Yuck, I felt like I was listening to Rush. Can't normally listen anyway because of work, but more RANDI, please!

1. Have you heard Malloy?
Malloy is their new evening person. I find him whiny and irritating. What happened to Garrofala (sp?)?

5. Malloy's been on in my area since the beginning 9-midnight
I love the guy, but he takes some getting used to. I'd hate to hear him in the morning, but I like him at the end of the day. Very, caustic and bitter, and I love him to bits.

Jeaneane is still on the 7-9pm "Majority Report" with Sam Seder in my area.

8. Sounds like the shows are on at different times
Jeanane used to come on in the evenings here but hasn't in a few weeks.

10. This must have to do with "ratings" in different parts of the country
and who owns the stations. I wish they wouldn't let me get addicted to someone and then take them away with no notice- its awful! (Like Liz on Unfiltered), substituted with Stephanie Miller after Christmas.

2. Ed opens almost every show by regurgitating Republican talking points.
(But he probably doesn't know he's doing it.)

9. They replaced Garofalo and Seder with Schultz in that time slot
on my radio. I had to turn him off. Just too Middle America for me. I do get Janeanne later but it's not the same cause it isn't live. I hate it.

11. I guess there's always ways to find it on the internet
but that doesn't help when you're driving or not near a computer.

12. I get Janeane on delay too.
I think it's time to do away with the time zone thing.

First bloggers, now "hate sites" (just who would determine that?).

Yuck indeed.

14. Randi was originally an acquired taste for me
But once I got past her manner, I could see that woman knew
a helluva lot!!! I've learned so much just listening to her.

Actually, I've learned a lot listening to all of AAR. There's
never a question about its credibility-- at least, that I'm
aware of.

7. I am so glad you posted this! I accidentally left on the Stephanie Miller
stream after Franken's show and Schultz began his show. He was rattling on and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why Rush was streaming on my computer. I quickly switched to Air America!

I think he sounds like Rush too! Maybe we should feed his show over Limpballs and he can start spreading liberal talking points and the righties will think it is limpball!

13. Ed's a recovered rightie and a good ol' boy
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 07:38 PM by ailsagirl
He reaches lots of people from the heartland-- he's genuine
and down-to-earth and a straight shooter.

I know he's had Conyers on his program (Conyers likes Ed's
program-- last week he was on two days in a row) and also
he's had Barbara Boxer on any number of times. And other
political figures.

I've concluded that not all AAR hosts are for all liberals--
but I do think they all definitely help the cause.

17. He has a long way to go toward "recovery" His moderate conservatism
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 08:08 PM by LaPera
ALWAYS comes through...He "was" admittedly right-wing not long ago. However that field is pretty full with the Limbaugh's O'Reilly's, Savage's, etc. etc. etc...

There's more profit in saying he's a "leftie" such bullshit, he's no progressive or liberal.

Why doesn't he call them what they are, fascist conservative republicans, right-wing regressive extremists, instead of "righties" because I don't believe he all of a sudden disagrees with that philosophy completely.

I would not be the least bit surprised if five years down the road, he came out and said he's had enough of liberal ideology and then crusades again for the right, if it became more profitable for him to do so...He, I'm sure, thinks he has everyone fooled

Schultz so often takes a republican point of view, while suggesting, "he's just playing devil advocate" I don't trust him...He's making gobs of money by saying he's now on the left, and seems far more concerned about how many more stations will be picking him up. He never takes a hard liberal stand on any issues of real importance.

I prefer Thom Hartmann a true progressive, or Rhodes, Malloy, Janeane or Sam, Peter Werbe, Lynn Samuels, Not to mention, the very liberal Meria Heller, all far more dedicated to the cause than Schultz.

15. Well, he is the top-rated liberal talk show host in America,
I heard the other day. If anyone can turn "red" voters blue, he's the guy, precisely because he doesn't come across like a big-city liberal and has a voice much like Rush.
