With a circus like this and with the polls showing most people opposed to DeLay's actions and in support of Michael Schiavo, for the Dems silence is golden.

And I must say that I've been impressed. I thought there would be a lot more yelling for the Democrats to act just for the sake of doing something.

Who is suggesting that Congress as an institution intervene? People are simply saying that members of Congress who support the Constitution and privacy rights need to speak up in defense of the people. Is that way too radical?

I think that's a good analogy with the Democrats response, or lack of it. We need to squeeze the Republicans balls .... as hard as we can!

The Republican right-wingers are street fighters. It seems far too many Democrats are afraid to meet them in the alley and if they do they'll bring them flowers and tribute, instead of a club. Bringing them flowers and tribute won't stop them from attacking you.

I think they are spending Easter with their loved ones. That's a nice way of saying they are hiding. Let others fight the Republicans on this.

No time to defend the Constitution and privacy rights. Pretend the issue and right-wing attack doesn't exist. Don't wage a big public fight against the Schiavo legislation because ONLY 83% of Americans were against it. We don't want to alienate the 17% who favored it because Democrats need those "moderate" votes.

Oh my! This is such a divisive issue .... wish it would go away.

However, with all that being said, people should be reminded it was Frist/Delay/Bush/Cheney wanting to cap malpractice awards at $250,000...but it was the $1 mil award that TS received that has funded her care fr the past 15 years.

AND, it is First/Delay/Bush/Cheney that are trying to cut Medicaid/Medicare benefits for the disabled, something that has been vital in helping to meet the needs of so many disabled Americans.


But she summed it all up by reminding everyone, this is not our business and we have no right to meddle in the privacy of this family and their grief. These are our (Dems) values and we should respect the rule of law.

She was good...Frum (who was the GOP spokesperson) pretty much had to shut up and agree.

I think you miss the point...she was saying this is not a political issue...it is a family issue and how dare that it be turned into something political.

We (the Dems) need to keep the high road and remain calm...tell the truth and point out the lies & hypocracy...but it is not for us to decide what this family should do.

There has to be a way to keep the undercurrent of uncomfort many are feeling with the Repugnicans and the many hypocricies they've displayed without making it look like it's being used for partisan purposes.

When DeLay called that dog & pony late night congressional mess, I had initially hoped enough Democrats would not show up so a quorum wouldn't have happened...and that once it looked like fait accompli, that Pelosi could have come out with some kind of statement...she left Barney Frank to carry the water here. I admire Rep. Frank, but I was hoping for a stronger statement about the unconstitutionalty and hypocrisies going on...open up awarness.

Now we just allow nature to do its thing and the Repugnicans to continue to drive themselves into a frenzy...much to our delight and that the more this circus drags on, a burn factor is starting to occur...people are getting tired of the story and the people...and leaving a very bad taste in a lot of mouths.

However, once this dust settles, I see no reason why prominent Democrats can't refer back to what's occured and point to the many hypocrisies and strong-armed games that have occured and how a continued Repugican control of Congress promises only more of these fiascos.
