How in Hocking Hell did the Schiavo thing take over the whole country?
I don't get it.

How did one family's personal disagreement become a national emergency and take over all the papers and airwaves? It makes no sense!

OK, they have a disagreement, but the courts repeatedly say that legally the husband has the right to his decision. So it goes to the governor of the state, the U.S Congress and the SUPREME COURT!?

What the hairy holy hell is going on here?

I think somehow, God up in his heaven has decided to let Lewis Carrol run the world for a little while.

Where's the whiskey?

14. Yep. It was brewing and promised to be a large, "cultural"
matter because of the power the fundies are credited with these days--but it really got rolling when Congress did that.

Frightening.

5. Apparently the Michael Jackson trial...
wasn't providing the appropriate amount of diversion from the war. Actual news was filtering in from the middle east, so they had to come up with some sort of distraction.

to sit down without being invited,' said the March Hare.

Lewis Carrol had the right idea..and it definitely pertains to this case.

13. I just watched five minutes of MSNBC on cable.
THAT'S how it happened. It's surreal - I don't usually ever watch cable news, and I flipped to MSNBC and it's nothing but the family and Randall making plea after plea - lie after lie.

People are freaking idiots and they believe what they see. I can think of no other explanation right now.

15. I think it's a conciousness thing ...
So much attention paid to it ... so much concentration ... the media whipping it as hard as they can ...

The ghoulish sense of humor that has been present here for the last week is a sane reaction to the insanity we are witnessing. Ether would work better than whiskey, I think.
