If the Left was as dedicated to removing Dictator Bush after the first coup d'etat (2000) as the 'Pro-Life' movement is in its efforts to 'save' Terri Schiavo, we would be in the second term of Al Gore's presidency.

1. i'll see your 1,000 pities and
raise you 51 million+ votes that if had been correctly counted, add to it the ones the machine ate, changed or screwed us out of, and call.

4. BTW, since Gore won the popular vote in 2000, there is no way...

... that those people, particularly after being cheated in the *first* 'election, actually changed their minds and voted for Bush in 2004 <--a CLGer made this point to me a while back. And, if the 2004 election was not stolen, Kerry's landslide win would have been correctly tabulated.

6. Correct.
so why the pity? The Left and more than likely the middle AND a sizeable section of the right were damned dedicated to removing the *moron. But republican-owned blackbox voting machines vs. the people's right to a fair election = FRAUD.

those damn voting machines have got to go.

2. we could do LOTS of stuff if we were more motivated
after years of getting angry, i got motivated, and am now involved. and it feels great. knowing that you are actually trying to fix things helps you sleep easier at night.

8. Very true.
Most of the left is too complacent, too safe and too afraid to stick their necks out or break the law in order to protect their freedom and ideals. God forbid we break a law in a way that accomplishes something.

9. Ding ding ding - we have a winner!
Its the "comfort factor".

Know how much active populace support is historically needed for a successful revolution/coup? (I read a book examing this years ago, so I know the answer)

About 10% - the rest of the people just need to be complacent and accepting.

10. People are giving their consent and approval to the Bush government
by their inaction. Simply voting for another candidate is not a meaningful action.
I've read that 10% number as well and I think you're right.
