it took george bush to finally destroy America
Edited on Sat Mar-26-05 08:43 AM by mopaul
history will note, that the fall of the great American empire began with reagan, daddybush, and jr. bush, but jr. bush in particular will be the one most associated with the spectacular demise of the once great united states.

after he and his buddies are done raping lady liberty and using terri like a football, it will be up to us to repair the damage and erase his foul memory from our minds.

hitler couldn't destroy us, nor kruschev, nor mighty russia, nor mao, nor the commies in vietnam. the stupidest man to ever hold the office, twice, is our downfall.

history will note.

23. And launch nukes
These people are so convinced that liberals, gays, etc are preventing Jesus from returning that they may launch nukes to kill off non-Christians in and out of America. I wouldn't be surprised. They are so desperate to be "saved" that they will kill people if they are proven wrong. They believe that morals come from god. If the Bible is wrong, then life is meaningless (it is) and that god doesn't exist (it does), then logically they must kill people since it's the only thing left to do.

3. History should also note that in the process he committed so many
crimes against innocent victims that we, the people of the U.S., will have to atone for them for years if not centuries. And that does not include the crimes he has committed against our own people.Like 9/11 for instance.

Like someone said on another thread, it's the

"Culture of Crime"

We should start using that phrase all the time.

6. he said he wasn't worried about history, we'll all be dead by then
its kinda' like the folks and the 72 virgins, how do you deal with that mindset. In * case lock him up and throw away the key. Do all you can to prolong his death. There will be a time when he will regret what hes done, although it won't be public.

less than a hundred years this country went from a back water country to a respected and admired country after ww2 and now in less than 50 years we have become the most despised country/civilation on the planet.

12. Hey, the empire is just starting.
You don't become an empire by being admired. You become an empire by being feared, and by ruthlessly taking actions to justify that fear. To be an empire you must have an emperor who forces kings to bend to his bidding. The laws of the empire have more weight than any local laws. The citizens of the empire have more rights than the barbarians.

We are at 30BC right now. The republic is in a life and death struggle with the Julians who would have an Empire. The Julians won that struggle, and Augustus became Caesar.

You don't really think that the Gaul and Britons and Greeks and Egyptians didn't despise the foreigners that conquered their armies, subjugated their people, deposed their kings and over-threw their gods?

9. Kinda reminds me of "War of the Worlds"
Edited on Sat Mar-26-05 09:16 AM by patsified
No armies, no weaponry, could destroy the invading Martians. It took a tiny, filthy little ole bacteria to do the job. Who would have ever thought that a little piece of dangling shit like George W. Bush could bring down what once was one of the greatest countries on the planet? With the right leadership, we could have been one of the greatest countries in history, but it wasn't meant to be, I guess. Better luck to those that follow.

10. We have not merely wasted a historic opportunity to do good, but
will also become a second rate country thanks to our imperial pretensions dragging us down. We have picked the low hanging fruit clean and other countries like India, China, Brazil have people who are far hungrier than us and willing to work and learn who will outstrip us economically in the next few decades.

We are destined to become the twenty first century's equivalent of Britain. If that makes us shed our imperial pretensions and illusions of uniqueness and join other peoples of the world as an equal, I think it will be a good thing.

19. We would be lucky to end up like Britain...
I appreciate the sentiment in your post, but I feel we are headed for much worse, unless we can wrest control from the rabid right wingers... I haven't given up hope yet.

I do agree, that would be a good thing--shedding imperial pretensions and joining the other people of the planet as an equal. Then work hard to be a force for good on the planet.

16. Well put and, sadly, true.
This democratic republic is not indestructible. Tomorrow is promised to no nation.

Our economy has been wrecked before. Our military services have been wrecked before. And our people have been bitterly divided and ill-led before, but we always recovered and came back. However, today there are other big fish in the pool, and a small group of right-wing zealots are dragging us down deeper and deeper, with no sign of relief ahead.

"Best effort" may no longer be enough to pull us out. Fuck Bush.

20. Please. Have any of you ever heard
of the Fugitive Slave Act, the Lecompton Constitution, the Dred Scott Decision, or the presidency of James Buchanan?

Granted, Bush and his cabal have been and will continue to tear down the American ideal to enrich themselves and their cronies. They will continue to trample on the rights of millions of Americans for the sake of their "special" constituency.

But America has been in this very same situation before. You betcha. It doesn't mean it's going to be nice or fun, it just means that history happens in cycles. Here comes another one.

22. Your post almost gives me hope for the future
It's reassuring to think we are just going through another cycle.

However, don't you think the global aspect and types of weapons we have today, create the potential for a far different outcome? I think the governmental situation, personalities and varied weapons of massive harm and devastation put this crisis in an unprecedented category.

I would love this to be just another cycle...
