Protesters invite arrest
http://www.sptimes.com/2005/03/26/Tampabay/Protesters_invite_arr.shtml

PINELLAS PARK - Cradling a cup of water, the 10-year-old boy emerged from the phalanx of protesters.

He'd come to quench Terri Schiavo's thirst.

Go back, the policeman warned. The boy refused.

With a proud father looking on, the officer handcuffed the boy and led him away.

"He's a young man of God," Scott Heldreth said of his son, who wore a black T-shirt that said Jesus Christ.

11. I was thinking the same thing
The parents should be arrested for child endangerment or something.

4. It is gutless and cowardly to make your children do the work!
If daddy had stepped up for what he believed and gotten arrested himself, I (while disagreeing totally with his stand) would have respected the effort. It it hard to get people that are willing to make the jump from protesting to getting arrested for what you believe in. The current anti-war movement needs more people that are that committed.

However, sending in the kid is just adding one more pawn to the chessboard. The brain dead and little kids manipulated for the enhanced power of the Fundies.

AND WHO STANDS TO GAIN?

5. And children marched off to fight the Crusades in the Middle Ages
I remember seeing an illustration of that when I was in grade school. As I recall it was presented as a positive thing (fighting for their Faith). I'm sure that's the parallel the fundies are thinking of. If the father's fave political party gets its way, it won't be long before his boy is marching off to war for real.

9. the Children's Crusade
was a pitiful farce. The kids marched towards the Holy Land with nothing more than crosses. Those who didn't die on the march were captured by pirates and sold into slavery, never to be heard of again.

8. Well, the other side of the point is this:
Children, typically under the age of 13-15, cannot be held criminally responsible. What this chickenshit father did was; make the fundie's point by trying to get water to Terri and used his child, who cant be charged with a crime, to do the bidding. This way, they get to make their point and no one goes to jail.

No matter how you slice it, its still cowardice on a grand scale.

10. These protesters make my stomach turn!
Okay...I have a problem with starving someone and if I were her parents I might do exactly the same thing.

It's the so-called Christians protesting that I have a problem with. Aren't they the people who most believe that we are spirits and not bodies? Terri's spirit, her true self, will never die...or so they believe. Isn't being in heaven with God much better than flaying around in a bed and being viewed on TV by the whole world???

What annoys me the most is how they are all outside the Hospice praying their little hearts out. How much time to they spend praying for all the innocent people, including children, that have been killed in Iraq by THEIR vote???

Terri may die today. Many people will die today. Many, many people, including children, will starve to death today. What are they doing about that? How much prayer do they devote to that????

13. And I'm sure there is a group in Texas that is
protesting the removal of baby Sun Hudson's ventilator against his mother's wishes.

the adults are getting $300 fines and 3 months probation.the kids are being taken to Juvie hall and then let go.

these fines are much too lenient and probation also......the kids should spend at least 3 night in juvie and then their parents fined $1000 to get them out...if would cut down on the numbers trying get their 1s minutes of fame.............
