Will the fundies form their own party after TS?
They've being saying for a long time they would do this if
their alliance with the gop didn't eventually get them what
they want.

Reagan didn't do it for them.
Shrub the first was no good.

But, when ** was elected they said they now had the
greatest opportunity in their history to advance their agenda.

Now supposedly they would finally get to revoke Roe v Wade, ban
gay-marriage, and bring back all the other fun things they want
from the 19th century.

But it looks like things aren't going to plan.

This TS affair has opened their eyes. Shrub is not willing to
put his ass on the line to give them their desires after all.

Is this all they can hope for from the most fundie friendly
president they've ever had?

Even before all their other issues are addressed the TS business
has proven Shrub 2 to be yet another miserable flop.

Looks like a case of fool me once to me...

TJ

2. It will show
how much power these preacherconmen have over their flocks as well. And it will encourage other disaffected conservatives to start new parties or join existing ones, like the Libertarians.

3. No.
Bush** and Bush-lite-lite have established themselves as Stalwart Defenders of the Faith thwarted at every turn by LIBRUL JUDGES. The MEDIA obligingly runs that damn picture of Smiling Terri and the snip of Mom Kissing Happy Terri at every opportunity and uses the framing of 'Terri fighting for her life' and the whole 'Culture of Life' rovination.

No, this is going just fine for the fascist theocracy. They are setting the loony fundy right up for militant action against the Death Cult Libruls - that would be you and me. It is all good. The fact that it is all coming to a climax over Easter is Divine Intervention. They need brownshirts to do the dirty work and they are busy getting their chosen stooges all pumped up and ready to go.

Despite owning all three branches of government the rovination here has succeeded in framing this as the Blessed Ones being trampled by Big Librul Government. You have to admire their skill, although having the mass media in your pocket doing your bidding sure helps.

5. Repub party too liberal for ya? Go to http://www.constitutionparty.com/

George Washington feared two threats to America above all others. First, the corrupting influence of political parties with their spirit of faction and selfishness; and second, the weakening of the influence of religious morality on public life. On both counts he was right - the Democrats and Republicans have betrayed us, and squandered the Founders legacy of liberty and justice. Countless government officials in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government take their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution with no understanding of the responsibilities that oath entails.

Join the Constitution Party in its work to restore our government to its Constitutional limits and our law to its Biblical foundation.

6. Been wondering which would be worse for them (hence best for us!)
If the Shrub Brothers go way out on the limb for the religious right (the same bunch that kept them in office and they know that!), they would alienate a mass of people in the middle who voted Republican for some reason other than the Victorian-era morality issues. I think they have already done this to some degree, which explains why they are backing off in the eleventh hour.

But if they hold back and do nothing, they would anger a group of fiercely loyal fanatics who feel Chimp & Co. owe them (big-time), and will just fiercely turn on anyone who has betrayed them. I think that while they have avoided extreme measures here at the end, Jeb & Dubya are desperately trying to appear as if they have done their best and were thwarted by liberals, Democrats, abortion-lovers, and anyone else they can blame. And as soon as this has played out with Mrs. Schiavo's death, you can bet they will spin the issue along this axis until everyone is dizzy!

At this point I don't care how it happens, I just hope the Republicans split along these lines somehow. If the moderates are alienated, then perhaps some will bleed off their support and at least become de facto Democrats in '06 and following. If the religious-right feel betrayed and go off to form their own little party with a Judge Roy Moore type candidate, the Republicans are just as divided, and the moderates will be still be left with a president who doesn't really speak for them.

If we can survive the spin this will generate (and that is a BIG question!), I think we stand to gain from this.

7. I do not think so.

"As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly."

However, I do think they may attempt a purge of the GOP.

I also think that some of them may found a new church based on Terry Schiavo, Trailer Hitch Jesus, and the Gas Stations of the Cross.

8. It would be better if they did for us. But they won't because it --
-- would greatly limit the infiltration strategy they use. Ralph Reed is running for the Lt. Gov. spot in Georgia, isn't he? I think the heavy operators and big donor folks in the Far Right feel that they own the GOP, and that the GOP owes them for recent successes. If they bolt in indignation, they lose their access to all those levers.

O but it would be sweet to see them stomp out in a huff and try to form an electable political party.

It would confirm that they are hyper-theocratic hotheads AND severely weaken the GOP base at the same time.

9. All We Need is 2-3%
That's all. Even a minor candidate could swing the next election.

11. I agree. A similar result might be possible if the fundamentalists remain
in the GOP but drive out some moderate republicans and independents.
