Interesting info about Guckert/Gannon
http://www.house.gov/

My rep. informed me that a resolution H.Res.136 requiring the attorney general and the secretary of homeland security to turn over documents relating to security investigations and background checks which granted white house access to Mr. Guckert. The special access not only raises security concerns, but calls into question the fundamental fainess of the white house press corps. To date the white house, secret service, DHS and DOJ have all failed to respond to repeated requests for information.

1. Yes, an initiative (Conyers'?) to get to the bottom of Gukgate was killed.

2. All administrations have had favored journalists
but until now they've all been JOURNALISTS.

The question is "WHY GUCKERT?" The man had to be provided with an alias and a fake set of credentials. There were credentialed journalists out there who would willingly have gone along with the propaganda format and who could have passed background checks under their own names. Why Guckert, indeed?

Gotta have a sugar daddy in there somewhere, folks.

3. Resolutions cannot "require" anything: they are not law.
Resolutions are such a load! There are thousands of them introduced every month throughout federal and state legislatures. There are resolutions recognizing every little community group, and retiring presidents thereof, and people celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries; and national or state whatever days. At best resolutions can use strong language to try to shame someone into taking action, but there is no force behind them. These elected jokers use resolutions to get themselves off the hook because they can say they introduced or voted for a resolution, such as recognizing Earth Day or condemning pollution - all WITHOUT voting for any legislation that would actually address these issues - so that way they don't offend the lobbyists.
