Anyone expect this Schiavo thing happening over Easter weekend
to be massively milked by the religious right for whatever symbolism they can find?

It's a very sad thing for everyone personally concerned.

3. I hope not.
I'm glad that she didn't pass on yesterday, b/c I already heard comparisons of her to Jesus.

I'm conflicted, b/c I want her to pass quickly, but at the same time, I know that if she passes on tomorrow the fundies will attack like a rabid dog and never let go.

7. I share your relief that she didn't die yesterday
but I think after making complete asses of themselves in a paroxysm of grief for somebody they never knew, they'll fade back into their fundy churches until the next stupid cause when they think they can push people around by smiting them with a combination of gawd and government.

5. We call 'death' 'transition' in my faith.
Easter might be a fine, symbolic day to transition; however, you guys are right about the unending symbolism that would be generated.

Wow, what a world!

6. If she passes away tomorrow
on Easter Sunday, what do you think the response will be?

I want this poor woman to be at peace, but I sincerely hope it doesn't happen tomorrow.

Is that wrong of me?

8. Well, if it's wrong, I feel the same way.
I'd rather it be today or Monday. Not tomorrow. The fundie nutcases would go off their rocker even HARDER and they'd have even more trouble on their hands in Florida. If nothing else, I'm thinking about the police officers having to deal with that mess down there.

9. I am sure that it isn't the symbolism those on the parent's side...
would find.

But to me if there was any symbolism to be found if Terri passes on on Easter Sunday it is that she was truly already dead to this world and that she has risen to the next on Easter Sunday because she was allowed to pass on.

11. Symbolism and $$$$$$$ from the suckers. Pass the basket.
Every televangelist is undoubtedly praying their blow-dried heads off and running telethons to milk this nonsense for every penny they can get from the wide-eyed, empty-headed, born-again, and gullible that "fear Gawd".

Hallelujah! Religion pays.

It never ceases to amaze me that these hucksters and their followers never seem to get around to read what Christ said about Pharisees, poverty, peace, etc, and the unbelievable irony of what they preach and and believe.
