PHOTOS: Saturday brings another day of 'peace' for dying hospice patients
As you can see, the "culture of life" crowd is providing yet another day of tranquility for the 80 dying patients at Woodside Hospice. The loved ones of those people must be truly grateful that they are able to say goodbye unmolested, in a dignified and comforting setting.

1. They should put a fence around the place . . .
. . . and charge admission.

What a freakshow.

25. Yeah I have
There are a lot really similar out there. As an agnostic, I'm very sceptical of most mythologies, so I don't put much credence in this. I was just trying to make a rhetorical point, and a feeble attempt at humor.

8. I thought about them, first thing
Edited on Sat Mar-26-05 04:32 PM by MADem
I wish their families would come out and give a few press conferences, saying how much the drumbeating, hawking, and bullhorns are impacting them. Maybe that might drive them from the temple (though I doubt it--they don't really care about anyone else who is dying, just their latest political poster child, poor thing).

Artist's depiction of the event, as I'd like to see it....!

ON EDIT: At least one newspaper has in fact covered the impact on the other patients at the hospice--wish the TV media would get on this: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/local/11176657.htm

At Woodside Hospice, dying patients come intending to spend their last days in tranquility, resting in beds carefully positioned for views of lush landscaping and gaily painted bird feeders.

They're getting a circus instead.

The dispute over Terri Schiavo, only one of at least 60 people under care here in this suburb north of St. Petersburg, has drawn a growing throng of satellite trucks as well as protesters who were hoping to block a Florida judge's order to remove the brain-damaged woman's feeding tube. Most quietly sing hymns, but on Friday at least one trucked in a seven-foot tall cross, complete with heavily bleeding Jesus figure, and others hold signs reading, ''Death House'' or ``Killing House.''

''It's a macabre sort of circus,'' said one longtime hospice volunteer who did not want to be identified because of threatening e-mails and letters that have targeted hospice employees and board members.

10. After Mrs Schiavo dies no hospice will be safe
I can see the "Christian" protestors making their way to every hospice to ensure that "EVERYTHING" has been done to keep hospice patients alive as long as possible. Thanks, Jeb.

15. Gives a whole new meaning to the term "Jesus FREAKS"
Freak show is a most apt description. These people are not normal. It's as if they're all trying to outdo one another in their grotesque and hideous displays.

"Look at me! Look at me! LOOK at me!"

It's enough to make you sick. Isn't it enough to make them stop?

20. And here is who they represent!
Sorry, your link was faulty so I'm providing a better one. This guy & his kid are professional right-to-lifer protesters, known for causing disruptions at numerous abortion clinics. Probably paid for their services, too.

28. THIS is what really burns my ass...
It isn't so much all of the morans disrupting (But when is Jebbie going to move all of THEM to a "free speech zone" 4 miles away and safely out of the public eye?) but the parents sending their minor kids up to the police line with water knowing damn well they'll be arrested?

I think every state in the union has a law prohibiting anyone (parent or otherwise) from using a minor in the commission of a crime. But these so-called "parents" seem to know that nothing will be done...kids gets cuffed, they beat the cops down to juvenile hall, sign 'em out and they're back on the line ready to do it again.

I think the parents ought to be arrested on the spot when they come to pick their kids up and charged with (at least) such crimes reckless endangerment of a minor and locked up without bail for a few days.

then she's obviously severly dehydrated! Quick, jam a tube in her! I'll leave it up to the readers here as to *where* it might be appropriate.
