Medical Science is an amazing thing
My sister's boyfriend was in a horrible motorcycle crash a few years ago. He had and internal brain injury and his head was continuing to swell, so they drilled a hole in his head with a straw sucking of the fluid. He was in a deep coma, and suffered what the doctors said was severe brain damage. After 6 weeks he started to show signs of coming out of the coma, but it was very slow. It's not like a person wakes up and asks for pizza, or soemething. It takes time. And you know what? He got that time. It turned out that he could think and feel just fine, but couldn't vocalize or communicate it.

2. Dumbya's case is terminal.
Can't re-grow a brain where one never existed.

6. Although I do like that bubbly font you are using?
Is it a font, or an effect in a program, and if so which one?

7. "And you know what? He got that time."
What exactly are you trying to say here??

Isn't 15 years enough time?

10. There are still things that havent been tried
Also, Why is her tube out if there are still appeals left? If it is indeed whatthe courts decide, then fine...However, there were still some last options, and the family should have been granted that. If it had been my daughter, son, brother, sister or husband, i would have wanted that. If 15 years is enough, I couldn't say. However, it appears that it wasn'tas not all medical avenues have been tried, and the appelas weren't completely exhausted. Why does that point of view, irriate DU so much?
I am pro organ donation when someone is brain dead. Why all of the animosity and angry quips at me? I think all avenues should be exhausted before someone is put to death? Why is that bad?

13. Be specific
What exact medical avenues have been left out of her treatment?
Tell me what current medical treatments, available today, are capable of regrowing or repairing a liquified cerebral cortex?

15. There are standards of medical care
And that standard of care has been met.
The quacks and snake oil salesman are out in full force, and they have been dealt with or ignored as appropriately they should.
Funny you fall for it...

12. tell you what, you decide for you, dont interfer with my choice
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 09:23 PM by seabeyond
i dont want to lay in a bed for 15 years without the cortex of my brain because someone wants to continue to give me time.......to heal.......when there is going to be no healing

but you want the time, let whomever know who will be your voice and allow them to fight for you. now if you are in texas and poor, your voice is going to have to fight their ass off and probably lose,

my husband will pull my plug, dont you interfer with my choice. i will insure my husbands plug doesnt get pulled, regardless of law bush passed in texas

14. Not medically factual
"so they drilled a hole in his head with a straw sucking of the fluid"

Last I looked, they don't stick "straws" in brains to drain fluids.
