in my odd ways...
Jesus, you were/are the best 'god damned' hippy ever...
Whether you truly existed or not, your unselfish ideas live on in some.

in smatterings for me, and I thank you for those.

1. Jesus, I have no doubt that you walked here.
But you oughta see the shit they've been doing in your name for the last two thousand years!

2. I join you, TrustingDog, in honoring the hippie-esque qualities --
-- of Jesus. It absolutely pissed off middle America that their Jesus had long hair and that he was unmarried and hung out with a bunch of mystic Essenes who lived in caves along the Dead Sea, etc.

Just pissed 'em off something fierce.

Also Jesus never shovelled a lot of bullshit from the local authorities. Very hippie-like there also.

Throw in the sandals and we have a pretty anti-establishment guy running around telling the status quo that it was full of it.

Good post.

3. I'm not much of a socialite...
because I too often feel my house isn't grand enough, I don't have time enough to make pretend... my wot wot, etc.
but this guy, he wouldn't make me feel poor in any way.

4. From accounts, I'd say you're right. True also of most "hippies" and --
-- "beats" etc.

Even today in Haight-Asbury in SF, there are many conversations to be had with people who believe in economic justice for everyone.

What a concept!

5. wouldn't it be wonderful
to share cultures, to learn that we are samely. One big market of families enjoying each others experiences and interesting differences. Instead of what someone else thinks we are... the rulers.

6. Yes -- and as long as it's on my mind, let me say I love the --
-- Dorothy Parker quotation on money in your signature line.

Perfect.

14. argh. the pound of fleshes to my IRS.
scandalous pirating in millions, maybe billions, like how would know the real numbers. Not one of them ever pays back welll enough what they stole from my daughters education or a kindergarten school or water safety programs, etc. etc. etc. and etc. sq.3. If I robbed a 7/11 for 200 I'd bet more time than politicians friends that steal millions and our childrens future. oiy.

15. Yes. I started questioning who has money and where does money --
-- go after reading Michael Harrington's book, THE OTHER AMERICA, a long time ago.

It was said to greatly influence Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty. Harrington is essentially a socialist, although in polite circles I usually refer to hiim as someone battling for economic democracy.

We could be a nation rich in ideas and resources and beauty and imagination and learning.

Instead we are about skanky advertising and hucksterism on one hand and miloitary aggression on the other.

Yuck.

17. This really is a class war. no doubt. always has.
Our nations have riches beyond belief, and what have we accomplished instead of sharing and making difference? We somehow allowed Grand Theft Earth with our gluttony.

9. Jesus, I'm sorry that they locked you away in a glass case...
...for worship, and not for **use**.

You are not East or West, or Red or Blue. You are love and redemption and renewal.

If human beings can stop fouling and destroying their own nest (which will be tough now), maybe they can also find the thread of remembering -- each in his/her own way -- just who you really are.

13. The Jesus idea is really a partical of all of us.
Call it spirit, call it anything you like. It's all the same. All roads lead up to the same mountain.

We are all the same. (Except for the predator elites)

23. This made me think of Jethro Tull: 'My God'
People -- what have you done --
Locked him in his golden cage.
Made him bend to your religion --
Him resurrected from the grave.
He is the God of nothing --
If that’s all that you can see.
You are the God of everything --
He’s inside you and me.
So lean upon him gently
And don’t call on him to save you
From your social graces
And the sins you used to waive.
The bloody church of england --
In chains of history --
Requests your earthly presence at
The vicarage for tea.
And the graven image you-know-who --
With his plastic crucifix --
He’s got him fixed --
Confuses me as to who and where and why --
As to how he gets his kicks.
Confessing to the endless sin --
The endless whining sounds.
You’ll be praying till next thursday to
All the gods that you can count.

12. Jesus was a liberal
and an activist, but the fundies are turning Him into a sideshow freak, just like they try to do with all liberals.

"And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you." (Matthew 6:5-6)

I'm sure Gorge would want to sacrifice his 3 martinis and four snorts and seven beers ago and small boys and dashed out Iraqi brains on this religious momentous occassionlessness in his unmind.
