One of the more sinister back stories to the Terri Schiavo drama is the return to the limelight of anti-abortion activist and Christian supremacist ideologue Randall Terry.

Given his history, you might think the Schindler family would have looked for a more reputable spokesman. I mean, if Terry isn't on the uttermost radical fringe of the anti-abortion movement, he is at least on the outer edge of the part that isn't in federal prison yet. It's definitely disconcerting ... to see how quickly and thoroughly Terry has been rehabilitated in the official broadcast media. As Media Matters notes, his checkered past -- the clinic blockades, hospital invasions, quasi-assaults on doctors and nurses, RICO suit, etc. -- rarely seem to merit a mention when he pops up on Fox News to brief the country on Terri Schiavo's latest alleged statements, or to threaten weak-kneed Republican politicians with unspecified mayhem. With relatively few exceptions, Terry's now just "a spokesman for the Schindler family," or, alternately, the "president of the Society for Truth and Justice" (Terry's Operation Rescue splinter faction.)

Society, truth, justice. What could more benign-sounding than that? The Ministry of Love?

The issue of exactly how Randall Terry is identified by the cable news guys may seem a trivial thing. ... But if you're a reporter, and someone like Randall Terry tells you a woman with virtually no cerebral cortex has just cried out "I want to live," or that "she laughs, and cries, she says yes and no" -- or makes any of the other incendiary claims Terry has been alllowed to beam live into American living rooms -- you might want to let your audience know the man is notorious religious fanatic with a long record of telling fantastic lies whenever and wherever they suit the purposes of his grand crusade to outlaw abortion and "reclaim" America for Christian fundamentalism.

The early nineties when he was protesting abortion clinics and indirectly murdering doctors. He use to work with Pat Robertson if memory serves me right, but has left his organization and formed his own.......

Can remember this jerk on the tv news in the 80's with an in your face fetus-waving method of protesting at area women's health services.

He's been on Planned Parenthood's shit list for years.

Now "operation rescue" is ministered by Flip Brennen, who makes Terry look like a moderate. Randall moved to Florida and has some new projects.

That tells me everything I need to know about the Schindlers and what motivates them.

And the reporting of the media with this obvious bias, should show those large number of people that the media is trash, and has been for some time. It is clear this is not fair and balanced reporting.

They must also be thinking, if they were not duped by this same media...Ya think?...One can hope.

Next time a person comes up to you complaining about liberal biased media...say Schiavo.

In an earlier thread, I suggested that Randall Terry approached this family and shoved a ton of money at them so that they could continue this fight in the courts.

But according to Bill Berkowitz, the Schindlers apparently made the first move. THEY were the ones to contact Terry, not the other way around:
