Did anyone see the protesters turn on Terry Schiavo's brother?
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 06:35 PM by Donailin
I just saw the clip on the ABC evening news. Protesters arguing with Terry's brother when he tried to get them to break up the demostration and leave.

Robert Schindler "We are not going to solve the problem today by getting arrested," he told the restless crowd of about three dozen people. "We can change laws, but we are not going to change them today You are not speaking for our family."

A protester yelled back at him, something to the effect that they aren't so sure.

5. That's it perfectly
Perfect description. NOW they're just telling them to leave?! Oh good grief. Why didn't they do this in the beginning? I'll never understand.

2. Not surprising.
They are not there for Terri or the Schindler's. They are there for their own agenda which has nothing to do with real compassion or empathy. They are religous zealots. It's all about the cause, however crazy it may be.

19. Some here, including myself,
have pointed out that there's a "peacable civil disobedience" kinship of sorts, between at least some of these people and our own war protesters. But can you imagine the result, had a war protestor pulled that "SIEG HEIL!!" stunt on a cop? In case you were too young to recognize the symbolism, that was calling that cop a Nazi. Giving him the finger would have been far safer.

15. Bobby Schindler was scolding them for disturbing the peace apparently.
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 06:50 PM by Kinkistyle
From the article:

...

The priest's announcement drew applause and cheers from the crowd, which spent most of the day heckling police and protesting loudly. The noise prompted Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler, to come out and ask protesters to tone down their behavior.

"We are not going to solve the problem today by getting arrested," he told the restless crowd of about three dozen people. "We can change laws, but we are not going to change them today EYou are not speaking for our family."
