GUEST 1: JORGEN NIELSENJorgen S. Nielsen is Professor of Islamic Studies, University of Birmingham. He has spent many years in the Middle East and has lived and travelled in Syria and Lebanon. Mark will speak with him about the history of Lebanese-Syrian relations and the current political climate since the assassination of former Lebanese PM Rafiq Hariri.

GUEST 2: MELINDA TUHUS http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x11431.xml Melinda Tuhus is a journalist based in Connecticut. Melinda has just gotten back from a Women and the Media conference, and we'll talk about the ongoing discussion of visibility of women journalists in top newspapers. She has also recently visited South Africa, reporting on HIV there. Pokey will talk with her about these and other topics.
Melinda reports for Free Speech Radio News, for WINGS, and has reported for the Connecticut weekly section of the New York Times. For her work at WQUN Radio, Melinda won a first-place award from the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists last year for a series on the aftermath of the police killing of a young African American man in New Haven. She also contributes segments to a magazine radio show, Between the Lines, that is somewhat similar to Sunday Monitor. She is a 2000 graduate of the Quinnipiac University School of Communications masters in journalism program.
