Ted Olson on CSPAN representing recording industry
What a loathesome puke he is.

The guy he's debating, though, is attractive and well-spoken. I loved his line that at the height of Napster, 40-50 million were using it. He explained that the number was greater than the number who voted for Bush.

Anyone watching this debate?

5. The main point of the argument
is *NOT* that it's OK to download copyright material but that copyright holders should not be able to sue to stop technological development and stiffle the marketplace.

The guy from the consumer media group said:
The answer is to give consumer what they want at a legitimate price. Meet the consumer in the marketplace and give them what the want.

He cites iTunes as an example of a sound business practice. Although all those songs are available for free elsewhere, the cost and quality of the product makes it better than free for the average consumer.

Instead of trying to plug the damn, the film and music industries should be embracing and exploiting these new technologies.

2. AND the movie industry
i CAN'T listen to or watch ted olsen, and i can't think of anything insulting enough to call him.

but when i saw he's representing BOTH of those industries, this man who in my opinion got bush into the white house, and got his wife onto one of the hijacked jets, knowing full well what was coming.

couldn't the industries find anyone more loathsome than ted?

3. Makes me want to stop watching movies and listening to music, actually.
When I saw Ted Olsen, my desire to consume both went WAY down.

Is he just there taking their side, or does he actually represent either in any substantive way? His arguments are like poop, and he's doing a piss poor, crusty Republican job defending them.

4. Not watching it but
reckon why Olson is emerging again after relative quiet from his quarter?...because he's no longer solicitor general, he is showing his face more...why? what are they (Bush Inc) up to now?

6. It follows the standard pattern
Work in government and then turn around and sell your accumulated access to power to the highest bidder.

One caller asked him how much money he made. He said it was as much as companies were willing to pay him.
