Universal Healthcare for Dummies
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 11:30 PM by salinen
Roosevelt created S.S. in a time of economic collapse. The old neo-cons screamed we couldn't afford it. Now we have a land of plenty. Any talk of Universal Healthcare and the neo-cons are screaming that we cannot afford it.

Bush creates war so his pals can drain off surplus $. The cons are willing to kill many millions of innocents to further their desires. We are witnessing the most horrific barbarianism ever known to man.

2. A short list of what Universal Healthcare would do
Eliminate Medicare

Eliminate Medicaid

Eliminate VA Medical

Dramatically alter Workers Compensation

Immediately knock at leats 20% (expenses) out of the equation

Improve the health and welfare of the poor disproportionately (the rich already have healthcare)

3. 1O9 trillion is US wealth: we can afford many things
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 04:51 AM by oscar111
but not one voter in a million knows this simple fact.

www.federalreserve.gov/releases/z1/current/accessible/l5.htm

see bottom line on that page. Good source, the best.

We spend now 1. 6 trillion on health. 1O9 trillion covers that with 1O7 trillion left over.

Nationalized health would cost 6OO billion, because we could cap dr wages at a sensible level.. and drive greedheads like Frist out of doctoring. Nationalized health would also cut excess profits out of all four corners of health. Only enough profit to keep it going, would be needed.
Four corners are:

drs
hospitals/nursing h's
big pill
insurance

Voters have no idea of how cheap health could be, because AAR is not in most areas yet. AAR is the key to getting Universal Health.

5. I hear you
that's the 20%. This represents the minimum profit and administration charges that the private sector tacks on. An HMO is absolutely nothing more than a marketing operation. Take away the need for marketing and you can eliminate the need for HMO's and health insurance companies.

6. The slightest hint of a preliminary exploratory study of a committee to
establish a panel to look into the possibility of universal healthcare,

and you have screaming minions of harpies bellowing:
"SOCIALISM"
"COMMUNISM"
"NANNY STATE"

from the top of every right wing mountain in the country.

The clamor alone recommends it.
