I saw a scary political yard sign today
in Paris, TX.
It had the candidates name, the office he was running for, and the name of his church on it.
Scary times ahead.

1. Theocracy is what these radical Reich Wingers want, and
most of the people who seem to agree with them must be too fuckin' stupid to understand the implications.

3. Figures
Local businesses now advertize themselves as Christian owned and operated. Yeah, we're heading to either a theocracy or a change from Christian religion to Chrsitian marketing. Either way, something is going down hard.

14. This weekend
I saw a locksmith van with a "In case of Rapture, vechile will be unmanned" licence plate holder.

This is in south central Minnesota. Of course, one of the local school board members in that area had long LTTE on how he voted against "macro-evolution" teaching in schools, as it is still a "unproven theory". He has also written many anti-homosexual LTTEs in the past.

5. LOL
If it did I didn't notice because I was so stunned about the church affiliation. I had never seen that before.
I will be back in Paris tomorrow and I will look.
However--I have a good idea it's Repug,lol.:sarcasm:

13. For how long, though, will we be able to assume it was repug?
Look at the direction that our party is headed. We allowed faith based initiatives with little or no fight, hell, some Dem's have publicly announced their support for such programs. The media has assisted the repugs with the Dems being beaten over the head with false morality & false Christianity to the point that now it is common place to hear elected Dems mention God, the Bible, and all kinds of gobbly-gook in speeches & statements regarding policy. Don't even get me started on "pro-life Dems".

I am truly frightened for the future of our country, but I am outraged, deeply saddened, and ashamed for what it has already become.

9. Margaret Atwood came to speak near here
Asked about the imaginative and scary atrocities that make up the world of 'The Handmaid's Tale,' she admitted that all of it had been practiced in America at one stage or another.

10. Sounds like Texas.............
hell they still have laws on the books against DANCING in some communities. Not naked dancing mind you, ANY DANCING. Footloose is not just a really cheesy 80's movie, it's also a peek into some of the most ass-backwards acreage in the country. The kind of place that would produce the worst president in American history.

All of the Democrats in Texas should get together and in one massive move take over the most productive half of the state and let the scary freakin' chew spittin' bible screamin' inbred GOP rednecks fry in the other half. Draw a line down the middle. From that day forward the crazy bastards half may be known as............. Pukovia, in honor of George I.

12. LOL--I grew up in that community
You could only dance at a school sponsored event--everything else was illegal.

It was illegal to spit on the sidewalks.(because in the old days the women wore long dresses and the spittle got on the bottom of them).

I moved their from a fairly progressive state and I remember during class one time some kids were passing around pictures. I glanced at them and was horrified. It was pictures of blacks being hung and burned. The kids were proud of the story attached to it. They also showed pictures of the city limit signs that said "Don't let the sun set on your black ass." I was appalled. Needless to say, the town was entirely white.

Texas has some terrible history.:(

11. Oy
Here in my town we're doing a new mayor race and not long ago (earlier in the month or late last month) and there were rumors going around that one canidate was an atheist and people got all freaked out. They blamed this one guy (he's doing quite well in the polling) and the local news had an interview with the woman. Who cares about someone's personal beliefs? It's supposed to be between you and God. So what? :eyes:

15. Turn the church into the IRS.
This has to be illegal. It should definitely affect their tax-exempt status.
